    Thanks sam
do you think it has genuine parts as the car was an ex-demo
vw dealers had it for 3 years.
To me it has genuine vw parts to it as all wheels have speed sensors made by vag germany also the ecu has been programmed to be able to use cruise control.
    Thanks

It's a dealer fit, my point still stands, it's not factory fit. I know exactly where I'm coming from.

Yep - definitely factory fitted. It's quite common for VW to occasionally send employees down to Conrad (the German equivalent of Maplin) to buy weird switches and things, fit them into a square-ish hole made by wobbling the drill bit around, and then use Dymo tape to label them.

    :/

It would really bug me that switch not being straight.

I have exactly that same momentary switch from Maplin/Tandy/Radio Shack (delete as appropriate back to the '90s) to operate my solenoid boot release. I put it underneath the dash by the fusebox out of sight. I still made sure it was straight. ;)

On topic - after having cruise control for the last 5 years I would never buy a car without it. If a how-to for the MK2 is available that would be awesome! And if the parts are relatively easy to find....

It might be easier to find Passat parts and adapt them but even then it's a pig of a job because you need to find a Passat in the scrappers then you have to find one with cruise. Sod that.

I like the idea of this, but I'd be a bit apprehensive about the the twin throttle cable mechanism.

I've just noticed the duplicate picture of the on the previous page was supposed to be linked to (delves into photobucket library) this picture of the actuator

    Hi all
the throttle cables are factory as it was a vw dealer fit.
when you accelerate the throttle is hard and soft as usual as it has twin throttle so when you activate the cruise control it bites on the 2nd throttle cable and maintains the speed.
if you need any detailed pics please let me know
    thanks

8v sits here. No twin throttle cable. There is a lug on each throttle for the Cruise to attach to.

I like the 8v setup, nice and direct with a good pull angle on the throttle.
