For the last 7 weeks i have been attempting a engine transplant from a 1.8 8v driver engine to a 8v k-jet gti engine. However instead of replacing the whole wiring loom i was persuaded to put twin 40's on it. I have put on a tsr 4 branch manifold, twin 40 dellorto's etc etc...

Does anyone know how to block off the injectors at the back as they are not being used thye keep firing out the pressure from the head when trying to start it.

Also the distance between the bulkhead and the carbs it seriously small. Brake servo doesnt allow me to put an air filter on either. So i presume i will need a shorter inlet manifold so tha carbs arnt as close.

Anyone got any suggestions as i really want my car back! [:^(]

the carbs are at the back of the engine and very very close to the bulk head. Old injectors - 3 fit in, and last doesnt because of the vacum hose or whatever it is on the inlet manifold. thinking of getting one custom made but with it shorter and the hose hole put on the side if that makes sense.
cheers - guys keep the posts coming

as for wiring, you are using carbs so just use your existing loom.

well i think the gti engine's are mosre capable of withstanding higher speed and pressures etc.
i paid 250 for whole engine and then lots on new 4-1 manifold, carbs, inlet manifold etc etc etc

bout 1300 spend so far inc bills from mechanics etc! expensive stuff. mostly coz ive been messed around thou unfortunatly and its still not done.

AFAIK the bottom end is the same as a 1.8 driver.
The head has slightly bigger valves and the all important gti cam already sitting there. [:$] ;)
