    Hi
Just started a new mk2 project this week, car and new engine sourced
Now at my age i am not really reading mags, on ed38 or in anyway scene lol

I think zero people clocked my last 8v air-con import project when i turned up to various meets ( which i like ) had zero mods not even the radio , they might notice this thing tho !

    So what the hell i have bought a 90`s bodykitted mk2 8v !!!
    it has these

    - M3 mirrors
    - Painted bumpers and arches G60
    - Huge hole where a TV was in the dash , playstation and video
    - front splitter
    - lots of mesh in the gaps
    - large rear spoiler under the bumper
    - 17" wheels silver
    - Number plate in bumper and tailgate smoothed

Some nasty rot spots only a couple, was full of water and no mot and left in a drive for a couple of years

So going to try and do a rework of a 90`s showcar , toned down for 2012
    - repaint and repair
    - tone down front splitter ( give it more clearance for a start )
    - rework rear splitter and do something with the tailgate , unsure at present , needs something
    - Powder coat wheels dark grey /black and run a silver/red line on the outer
    - fit double din / TV
    - bin the PB and pop a ABF and 02a in

The 80`s bodykits seem to have more cred , but they looked just as bad in the 90s and now look cool imho ( not all of them mind )

What do people think ? , sure most will think any 90`s body kit is horrid , i hated them in the 90`s but never owned a mk2 until 2001 as was a die hard mk1 GTI owner. I always wanted a mk2 with a Zender bodykit

I reckon i can do a a rework that will look quite nice

Lots of nice touches on there, and the not so nice is nothing that cant be rectified easily. except the blended arches. which are fine till you get into a small accident/pothole/slight knock and the paint/filler cracks.

just t'other day my car fell down a pot hole deep enough to dislodge my front g60 arch. (round the back of an industrial unit with a badly maintained road) for me was just a case of poking arch back into place, for you, well that would be a bit more serious

Yeah its going to be a either a compete barry boys car which i hate and laugh at , or a nice mk2 with some "iffy mods" lol

    Should be fun :-)

Bodywork repairs has never been my area , but going to have a go at learning it properly, mate out the workshop i rent does it so should come up well

The paint is really nice in places

Shame it was left to rot really, a bit of care, a warm garage and it would still look fresh. Proper Brit Look 90's car though. Car park at the TRL was full of these from Inters in the 90s.

I've got some crystal m3 rears that'll fit the look perfectly ;)

Also, all those pictures and not one of the full car!
