no ive not checked the plugs yet mate, the timing on mine is defo out at least a tooth tho so i think its that.ive researched it on here and people replace all the ignition parts to find out the timings out.il pull a plug out tho and check tomorow cos if the timings out it would maybe run lean?is yours heavy on fuel cos seemingly thats another trait that the timings out.

Yer strange but it looks like the previous owner of my car was trying to fix it by the looks of it.
Its had knock sensor, distributor, IGN leads, all the vacuum pipes & fuel pipes.

Atleast we only have simple 8v's and not something jap

check the ecu like i did oh and mines doing it again but i think its the regulator pack
on the alternator. I took it out earlier as it was dying on the road and battery light kept coming on
the AA did a bodge job on it couple weeks back and the brushes are buggered so new is ordered.
Could be your coil but test it first

It's annoying cos it ran fine for a day then went back the same again.taking the dizzy out at weekend and a dizzy specialist place is gonna test it.he reckons there's also a sensor right below the dizzy aswell that can go bad.reckons you need a torch and mirror to see it tho so gonna have a look.better payin a wee bit cash to get it checked than 150 for a new dizzy.

Crank sensors can still work if there faulty unless they fail completly resulting in no spark.
Get your dizzy looked and if thats fine try a sensor dont think they cost that much? could always take it back if its fine.
You've got obd plug havent you? plug into it??

just went to the garage for fuel and it ran perfect!!!went in and paid for it,came back out and it was back the same again!!!plugged my diagnostic reader whilst the car was running and the cam position sensor fault code was up so i deleted it and it ran fine again!!!what the hell is goin on!!!!

does anyone reccon this is wiring related?just that if the dizzy timing was out it would have the 5000 rpm limit all the time would it not?or could it be a crank sensor on the way out or an intermittent hall sensor fault??

You can clear codes be alright for a while then be back few days later If it comes back as cam sensor fault again then replace the sensor
