Does anyone know what gearboxes the vw's are running. Am i right in thinking they are gemini/vwms 6 speed sequentials. I have a vague recollection that i read that somewhere, or am i just making this up?

Thanks a lot for the links, gives me a template[:D]

Yep, that's what they appear to be. There was a thread on Vortex about the red 'pisano' mk1 with Speiss power (1600 16v 200+++ bhp) Think it showed a pic of the end case of the vwms 'box.

yeah i remember reading that, had it as my wallpaper for a while. I noticed you for the first time on there the other day with the r32 thread.

I tend to be found in the technical areas(carbs/itb's/sem and 8v).

I love those superhigh spec na lumps, like the supervee stuff. I nearly bought a bertils supervee1800 8v(198bhp with dyno chart)last year, when the exchange rate was silly with america. I know where there are a few for sale if anyone is interested. Instead i went for the bottom end which is going in my new project.

The polos mostly run five speed 085 boxes with silly final drives and
ultra close ratios courtesy of the tiny engine heritage of the early
polos, but there are a few people with full on aftermarket boxes and
the associated multi-thousand pound price tag.

The quick Polos run a mix of boxes. Most are still 085 cased five speeders but are proper dog boxes. Some have been converted to six speed and some have been converted to sequential with special barrell rollers etc. Others use the Gemini Polo kit car six speed sequential like the one gathering dust in my kitchen.

    Thanks for the reminder mate!!

I'm taking the underseal off at the moment. Its a job akin to removing all of your pubic hair with a pair of tweezers.

I'm halfway through doing mine at the moment and not enjoying it at all. My saving grace is that I have been too busy over the last few weeks to have a go at finishing it off, so my hearing has recovered from the tools whiring!

dogwood, where did you get your gemini, and if you dont mind me asking, what did you pay for it? I saw one going for 6000 euros, and it seemed very tempting indeed. And also, what are the bellhousings likein terms of mounting? I was also thinking of investigating an xtrac with a custom bellhousing and mounts, seemed like a lot of hassle though.
