Been a while since I updated so here's a collection of pics from November December and a bit of Jan.

    Seatbelt eyelet installation

    Cage etch primed

With the eyelets in I was now able to prime and paint the interior ( installation of seat rails too!!)

After the interior was painted I decided to get the car rolling, (overspray will be cleaned off later[:$] )

    (Lower cross brace added also)
    FRONT

    REAR

Rear disc conversion from Polo GTI carried out for the following reason's, 1. no adjustment required, 2. Stronger new style wheel bearing, The disc set-up is is approx 1kg heavier than the previous disc set-up

With the chassis now rolling, I was able to concentrate on prepping the outside for paint.

Any bare metal was etch primed
    [IMG]

Various area's stonechipped! (not very track I know, but this car gets driven!!;) )

    Sills needed particular attention

    How are these secured ?

Does this give you the correct angle to stop you submarining the belt ?

    Thanks

only just seen this - fantastic job! lots of time spent and some really nice touches

quick comment on MSA eligibility - removing the spare wheel well would put you straight into sports libra with the likes of radicals - minor point but an important one if you ever intend competing with it

Thanks! Gonna be running a bone stock ABF on throttle bodies for now, high revving motor is planned but our A4 track car has taken up my development time and budget[xx(]

Shoulder harness straps are approx 30 degrees and the lap straps fit nicely over my pelvis, its 100 times better than what I had before!

Thanks Rob! Good to hear positive comments from people who actually race!! thanks for the heads up on the wheel well, I have no plans on competing with this car but its good to know!!

Check out P5 Bill, its all there!

    Cheers Chris!!

Wasn't planning on such an extensive refurb, but I could see things lurking which would come back to haunt me, Previous respray was rubbish, I'm tackling it myself this time and bodywork has been a steep learning curve for me.

    Hello.
    Nice work you have done.
Can you post a picture with the whole lower cross brace to see where is fitted, because i can see the back of it.
And the eyelet from the right part of the seat where it's mounted?

Looking great mate. Impressed with the quality of build.

With the amount of fabrication and engineering thought gone into it, have you not considered making up some adjustable front wishbones?

    Hi!

The lower cross brace ia welded onto the rear wishbone cups, i'll get some pic's when the car is next in the air!!

The righthand seatbelt eyelet attaches to the inner sill.

    thanks
    G

    Cheers Sean

I have considered fabing up some wishbones, but to be honest I would prefer to dial in the new setup first as I feel making to many geometry changes will leave me "no mans land" not knowing what changes have made a difference or not??

I've always run stock steering + suspension settings on my car and it handles relatively well. i'll probably look into a top mount and wishbone setup eventually. Maybe it would be better to get a ride in a car that has some trick bits to really understand whats going on!!

    cheers

    G
