    I collected this last week, after an 8 month wait:

    Ordered in August last year.

    Already got a few tweeks done...no surprise! [:D]
    My local VW dealer fitted the VW Racing lowered springs before collection.

    VW Racing 8.5" x 19" wheels now on:

    I was down in the borders this weekend at a mates Stag Weekend, so it gave me the chance to try the GTI out properly, trying to keep a mate's Maserati 3200 GT behind me...
    Since he claimed he was keeping up, it was time to throw the 'running in' guidance out of the window, press the sport button on the ACC dampers and see what it can do...
    I'm impressed. :yum:

    Good turn in, plenty of grip, the XDS can be intrusive...but it works. Takes a bit of getting used to...it affecting the traction on a dry day.
    We did a couple of hunderd miles on sweeping A roads, and a good few on proper single lane B roads - and it's pretty impressive down those.
    It wags it's tail too!

    Very nice.
    But were you reccying for the JIM Clark Rally? You will have to go some to get the cage fitted in time!;)

    Looks really nice!! Wheels are so much better than the monza's, not too difficult though.

    Fantastic. Love it. Would be ordering one myself if it wasnt for the 24k starting price. The one i want would be 28k, then you are stepping on the heels of a Scirocco R.

    It felt like it...
    The back road into Roberton had me in 'full attack' mode feeling like a rally driver...but without the cage - not good with some of the drops off that road!

    The Maserati didn't keep me in sight too long on the proper back roads. :thumbup:

    Cheers...
    I got it on 18" Monzas but really can't be bothered with the white worm - I like the wheels though, if a tad to 'bling' for me. They are bagged up and on the wheel rack for when I finally get rid.
    So, a quick anti-bling session ant it'll be tip-top.

    That one was...(over, in fact)

    I just don't like the Scirocco...too cramped inside, boot too small for throwing Mk3 bits in, interior not as nice, and not enough doors to be practical, for me.

    I'll live with the 5 dr GTI and a cheeky re-map.

    Could be worse, if I'd swapped my order to the Golf R in a comparable spec (the only addition would have been Recaros & Leather, as I can't stand the standard Golf R interior) then it would have been over 38000. Mad. :o

    There seems to be a problem getting hold of them..
    Sciroccos have waiting lists...but the wait for this damn thing was the longest I've ever had to wait....for some reason you just can't seem to get a GTI quickly.

    real nice, dont hate me but being honest I think the 5 doors ruin the looks? the mk5/6 dont carry 5 doors well at all I dont think :( not that it makes any difference while your hammering down the roads around your place

    Thanks for all the positive comments folks...
    I'm impressed with it..I knew it was going to be superbly practical, comfortable, plenty of toys etc...what I didn't epect was quite how good it would be when you really grab it by the scruff of the neck and work it.

    Personal choice...
    My Mk3 is a 5 door...as was the vRS Fabia.
    I just can't be bothered with trying to get out of a 3 door in parking spaces, or trying to wrestle a Mk3 rear beam into the back of a 3 door.
    5 door - the lazy option.

    Hell, it even has mudflaps fitted...do I sound like I care about looks? :thumbup:

    ha fair do's. I would take one with seven doors as having driven a mk5 I think they are great. Does it have leather or tartan?

    Tartan...I like it too much not to have it!
    ACC, Xenons, Sunroof, manual gearbox, various lazy options and the upgraded stereo.

    How come it took 8 months? Thats a pretty hefty wait. Only a true dubber would wait that long!! [:D]

    Tartan interior and Red, the Classic Golf GTI spec, and my favourite aswell. :thumbup:

    Mine (R) should hit the UK this week, so thankfully i won't be beating your 8month record, or VW would be getting even more strong e-mails than they already have :lol:

    Mines currently 188days Or 6 months, 7 days and counting

    or can be converted to one of these units:
    * 16,243,200 seconds
    * 270,720 minutes
    * 4512 hours
    * 26 weeks (rounded down)

    :lol:
