I've ordered mine today in perspex as they are, These dont scratch as easy as poly and just as strong 190 inc sliders, VAT and delivery Also if you want to save weight remove the metal from the inside of your bumpers just dont crash I've found a supplier for grp and carbon body panels They do wings bonnet doors and boot lid, They just need to do the rear qtr, Depends how for you want to go.
I feel a group buy comming on and yes they do the lot, The bloke is making a space frame mk2 with full carbon fibre body. I will sort the number out.
Will be very interested in the grp panels. If your going to put in a perspex rear screen, you might as well stick it in a light weight tailgate. Was 190 the whole set, all 4 side windows and the rear?
a freind of mine made a new drivers door window with lexan. hooked up to the stock electric window runners. i can confirm it still scratches.
lexan is just a brand name for perspex, polycarb such as petg may be a better bet, it's what they make the front of coke machines out of, so fairly tw@tproof 250 for a GRP wing holy poo thats loads, Golf wings are a fairly simple shape so laying up the mould wouldn't be too difficult.
i'll hopefully be knocking out some carbon bonnet skins for track cars soon - around 250+VAT. making the mould now - i'll let you know more details as and when tt
You might want to PM "Tallchap" as far as I know he still has a fibreglass bonnet and boot for sale at 250 the pair (not each!)
Do we have anymore info on this tallchap as i couldn't find him on member search. That was 250 per pair of wings 250 bonnet and 250 for boot lid.
Re: Tallchap, he's a friend of mine, thought he had a login on this forum, but it's the golfgti.co.uk one instead. If you PM me your email address I can send an enquiry on for you. It's my fault he has a spare set as it was another mate of mine who wanted a set but his circumstances changed at the last moment and couldn't take them !
I would be very wary about using GRP panels on my car. The wings and bonnet form part of the designed in crash protection, and I have heard that to get GRP panels strong enough for this they need to be virtually the same weight as steel ones anyway.
