when the engine is up to temp .sometimes..when u go to get power .theres nothing there... flat like the turbo is dead .. vag test said at vw they found no fault on cars comp ..memory.. most of the time car drives great.... could it be either clutch ...or masmeter .on air box i hope its not...turbo trouble....
Going to be tricky narrowing fault down without a Dtc. Unlikely to be clutch. If consistent, MAF highly probable You saying it's always ok when warming up?
seems to happen ..when engines up to...temp ..mor so on a good blast from a night shift when roads r ..empty....70..80.. mph or more.... if u stop engine then ...then restart troubles gone again... till next time... peaple say mass meter mass meter .. 70 pounds at vw....this is getting me down now big time...
As above could be a MAF or sticking N75 Valve or maybe Coolant temp sender... Did they just read the codes as they should be able to see more by taking it for a drive with the computer connected... (ie the live data for the MAF)
id agree, they need to take it out while its connected. im certainly no expert on these engines but from experience i had to take my car back to VW twice before they discovered there was play in the turbo shaft. surely cant be the MAF as a decent garage (or VW themselves) should be able to identify this fairly quickly. does the car idle badly?
they took it out for road test down a good road .... could not find the prob.. no faults loigged on car everythink..in spec... yhey said try a mass meter or now....[:^(] [:^(]
seems to be...it hapens ..after engines warm ..never happend ..on a cold engine ..mpg on average is 43 ..40.. as i said if u stop engine then restart motor the faults gone till next time ..cars been in for a scan on vag.. they found no faults .i think its mass m/..but not convinced.. its like the plug being pulled on the power.. ill replace mass.m . next week when ive the cash 70.oo i will keep site updated to my problem thanks again steve old vw man....
the fault is causing the ECU to go into limp home mode....which is why it resets each time you switch the ignition on/off. This being the case the fault will be detectable on 1551. It could be a number of issues from boost issues, split hoses, temperature, fuelling etc.
Steve, theres not need to drive all the way to Basingstoke. Get over to JKM vag specialists in Portsmouth, who'll diagnose the problem rather than guessing.
