    mkI about 800kg,
    mkII about 950kg,
    mkIII about 1050kg,
    mkIV about 1400kg,
    mkV about 1600kg.

not exact figures and someone will probably correct me, but close enough for you to get the idea.

MkV is such a fat b1tch - what a shame [:^(] I'm sure they're lovely to drive but I'd only have one as a family bus...

I followed a silver mk 5 yesterday. It had non body colour bumpers and it was really really hard to recognise it as a golf. I thought it was a new lupo until i read the badge.

There was an RSI for sale in the Midland Auto Trader 4 weeks ago - nominal mileage & under 20k. Would have been my choice over the 7 R32's that were in there the same week...

I flashed lights at two fellow R32ers yesterday. No return flashes though, miserable B**tards!
What some people forget when "racing" R32 is the torque. May get close on power to weight but only a mega diesel gets near on torque!
Chuck in the sorted chassis, 4wd and grip and it's damn fast!

It seems (as with all new cars) there are two types of R32 driver.

    1) The enthusiast who is priveliged enough to have chosen one as an upgrade to their past and previous sporty VWs. (Like the CGTI owners on here).

    2) Someone lucky enough to see the R32 on their company car list but only choose it because they like the seats and the twin exhaust and see it as a pose.

I have only encountered the second group on the roads so far, but I suppose its better than picking a 3 series!!
