I really loved that car, although i wasnt to keen on the tiger stripes it sported towards its last days...I remember seeing it once in bristol and being tempted to go for polycarb windows myself...

What a depressing pic [:^(] He must have been absolutely gutted.

One of the UK Mk1 legends for me.

It was Steve's first time on track and i think he was trying to stay with Joe and just pushing to hard, having said that we all know what its like when you want to try and catch someone faster than yourself [:$]

I knew when they both lined up behind me in the first session of the day (the other vid) there was going to be trouble  thats why i booted it out of the pits and pulled away ;)

I recall a picture of it in the paddock, after the lorry tow. Would have been on the CGTI forum, 2 versions ago - not sure if threads were kept...

remember that day too... hark at us lot.. LMAO

He asked me before the day began how to approach his "first ever trackday"... Dont get bated into a chase, ease yourself into it, be smooth and keep it on the black stuff.

    Woops..

Joe was hunting that day for prey...
remember him spinning out when waiting for me and my Jetta and then giving chase....... and shortly after spinning out at quarry. LOL

Several mishaps that day, but the mk1 was a tragic loss and waste of a car. Red Mist.. beware folks.

    Funny.

Vid of Raceinvader's car at Brunters:

And a vid of Marcantonio's Bora, which laid unused after a mega- build during 2002, before Joe picked it up at the end of ~2004/start 2005.

Steve's mk1 was awesome, it had all the right parts, but the car was never set-up properly. It was a real shame he got caught up in 'the chase' that day, very easily done if your new to track day's [:^(]

top car... certainly influenced my own build

Yep, definitely Forces - was in the PVW article.

Hasn't logged on the the forum in 2.5 years now, though he has a YouTube a/c where he had loaded up the 'Pod vid in the last year. Just one vid on the account though.

Lost contact with him of the last few years. I'm sure Malc will be along sometime to shed some light on things.

Last time I spoke about him he was driving nothing interesting....what a gutter. Maybe one day he will replicate the beast or go even better.

    In the meantime
