Right i am already looking around for a new car, at the moment i have got a k reg mark3 gti golf and i would like something a bit newer but i don't like the golf mark 4 and i don't really want another mark3 as this is my second one already. So i been thinking about a seat ibiza, what do you guys think about these cars? I have seen a 1998 SEAT IBIZA 2.0 8V Cupra Sport 3dr Hatchback for sale for 3100 what do you guys reckon? Thoughts and comments would be great
Is the 16v a lot better than then 8v ? is it more or less the same differences as the mark3 golf 8v and 16v ?
I saw one yesterday going round the roudabout. It looked pretty nice and went quite well! The guy had put a twin exit zaust on it. The only thing that put me off was that is sounded like a moped!
i would say that a '98 ibiza will feel no newer than a mkIII golf. what you want IMO, altho it's more expensive, is a seat leon cupra r...nice cars.
Weighs a couple of kgs more than a mk2 Golf, yet has more power. Newer so hopefully you go faster more reliably.
the 16v's are quite rare though i thought? but definitely the one to get. mk2 16v's weigh 907kg, 151 bhp/t and the ibiza 16v is 1100kg, 136 bhp/t apparently. but the cordoba is 990kg- hows that work lol?
My figures are from the back of EVO. I assume most manufacturers would measure kerb weight differently so an independent measure (if they did at all) might be better. Rare? None at dealers last time I looked so I suppose so. All the parts you'll normally want are from Polo or Golf, just need to know what you're lookng for.
apparently it weighs 900kg dead on now- i'm bloody confused lol, less than a mk2 golf! which gives a healthy 166.6 bhp/t!
he says he doesnt want another mk3 as he's already had 2. ibiza's aren't too small. too small for what?
Thats not strictly true, I've had a mk4 polo and now have a seat ibiza 16v and can safely say that the room front and rear is much greater in the seat. I've got a 16v jobbie so its got the 280mm brakes 16's half leather air con 150 bhp etc etc It handles much much better than a mk3 16v, I test drove about a million of those before driving the one 16v ibiza and buying it. In short for the seat is a better buy than the mk3 golf IMHO. After you get over the initial badge snobbery you learn to love VW's younger brother! any excuse for a pic! Edited by: Ian_S
go to Seat owners my mates in there, they sound like a decent bunch of lads, they'l answer all you questions, well should be able to. personally id stick woth the golf name, but thats me aint it!!
