well the first lot were useless tbh, then those that attended to the scene were far better, very helpful and weren't going to detant me any longer than needs be in the ambulance. plus one of them was fit just thought i'd clear that part up on the police, gutted thats now two mk1's that have been written off for me, will be chasing folk up on monday, mostly because i need this sorted out quickly before i go away.
Really really gutted for you mate , that was my favourite car at Spring festival at the pod!! so much so i was asking all over the mk1 owners club whos it was!!! with a view to maybe buy it[:^(] heres a few memoirs of what it was like the day i saw it, sorry if its painfull................... the king is dead...long live the king
wish i had washed it better for spring GTI festival now also bought this months PVW as it features from that show, otherwise i wouldn't have bothered.. i am gutted as it was a mint/very straight/tidy mk1 which would have made an awesome base for someone else to carry on with, it pains me to see it smashed up knowing it won't be back... it was also going up for sale this weekend, having attend my last vw show in it at bugjam ( had a long list of folk who wanted it...)
well from an insurance point of view yes, i think possibly it could come back, not heard of a report yet or had a chance to give it a really good going over to see what has happened with it, i think i was dreaming this idea up in the ambulance trip, of space framing the engine bay-custom to what ever engine i choose, to then allowing me to bring it back..... but i have one project that is so far uncompleted and well to have another one would be mental i think my mum would really flip then
OUCH ! Was in the queue in front of you at Bug Jam ( a gold mk1 driver and a red mk1 driver ). Liked the look of that cheeky little motor. Build another one in homage.
Sorry for you Jon, glad you are OK though. Maybe the taxi driver pooped himself being followed by German Police! Hope you are sorted soon. Rajan
it occured down your way infact, A4012 nr leighton buzzard. some good news i had yesterday afternoon, the third [arty admitted liability to the crash..... and things have started to move along with regards the claim but nothing as yet about my car.....i know its only been a few days but something should have occured by now...
might be worth chasing up the car before its crushed, you know how funny companies can be (well in the way of paper work anyway!) I like your thinking, space frame thoughout the car - firberglass/carbon firbre wings, and a ihasussa engine
Blimey, that's a result - it's supposedly a cardinal sin to admit liability (even if it was bleedin obvious).. Should make life a little easier for you in getting your way as you are now the victim, as opposed to having a portion of the blame.
Man I was recently admiring this in a mag, and thought it looked wicked[:^(] I'm in N Ireland and even I knew about your wheels, just glad you're ok and will be able to sort another sweet ride for me to admire
gutted Glad to see you survived the crash. My little bruv would be gutted if he saw this thread as he sold the car to you after making one of the MK1 finds of the century in this little Golf. Lucky he is in the outback in Oz somewhere or the taxi driver might have another sworn enemy on his hands. [:^(]
