getting back on topic, since I dont think I've made much input to this yet - I dont flippin care what everyones going to be doing next year, cos I probably wont be doing it
OK, Back to topic, straight answer Why not ditch following a trend - why do people need to follow a trend? Why not just simply build the car you've always wanted! I knew from years ago that i wanted a G60 arch'd MK2 golf with big bumpers - totally not the "trend" last year when i did it, but it still looks smart IMO. Do you really want folk to think "oh look, another small bumper m1 with chrome strips" or "oh look, another g60 golf in cl spec trim" ?
planning to try and find it Phat? obviously I wouldnt buy a capri, cos I know they are a sh1t design technically, but I like the shape. A bit like a mk1 polo I guess. Or a mk1 fiesta. Or a mk1 or mk2 escort. now a vauhxhall chevette, THATS ugly
I dont want them to think it. but if they want to think it thats up to them. It wouldnt bother me if I was driving the car and they were saying it, but equally I wouldnt want them to look at it and go "oooo that car is so cool cos its got everything on it thats in fashion this year!" Having said that, if they do its their loss, they would be the ones missing the point, not me!
So, I'm selling my mk2 VR6. would it be worth more if I painted it coffee cream, fitted the 15" centras a 1" front exit exhaust and some stripy deck chairs and wooden flooring? no. I couldn't really car less what people are doing with their cars this year, so long as they are all on show, instead of the pathetic amount on show at inters last year. But the day I see a mk2 with chrome metal bumpers, is the day I have to tell the owner he's a c*nt.
GO ON, I DARE YOU!!! I'll help you paint it this weekend, get Madmonky to whipp you a couple of deckchairs off the prom.
got to agree with the mk2 on chrome metal bumpers thing! I'll join in when ya do, if we get enough people the whole show might hear us shout it in chorus
Damn, and there was me gettin a mate to make up some bespoke stainless bumpers for my MK2, just so i could be a trend setter [:^(]
Oi, you lot - stop taking the pi$$ out of my Polo. It is cool and I like it, not just 'cos they are rare these days but 'cos it's different to what you see everyday and makes a nice change. It's interesting to drive and in good nick. I love Golfs as well, particularly Mk1/Mk2's but compared to the Polo they are a common everyday sight. I like old cars because they are old! Anyway, my 16v had a flat this morning and my Polo got me to work... albeit slowly, and I had the pi$$ taken out of me by my collegues 'cos it's got 'L' plates on it at the moment! Edited by: StuB
Exactly. Based upon such comments you are, in all actuality, saying the mk1 Polo is cool. I am well aware I may will be viewed as a fashion victim when the cab finally hits the road but I started the bloody thing before trends went the way the did. Better take longer over it and change it a bit. Phat, you sad the Corrado handled better than your mk2s. That's because it hasn't got an overweight engine in it. 1990 the year for cars/music etc? I don't recall the VR6 being about in 1990. Still, your entitled to your opinions. No matter how incorrect or misguided they may be.
who died and left who in charge? whos to say whats cool and whats not? do what you will and f**k the rest
