The turbo charger too is different on the later models. The earlier 20vt used a KO3 turbo, the later used the KO3s which is basically a down tuned version of the 25th anniversary turbo (which has 180bhp) . Thus, if remapping you could expect higher bhp with a KO3s than you would with a KO3.

 

Thanks Tspec, awesome did say you could expect 195ish with an earlier one and up to 210 with a post 2001 with a stage one remap, so that makes sense now.

Just bought a 1.8T, glad I did, 3 door on a T with 70k miles 2 owners full VW history very tidy, 2400.

Pick it up tomorrow, so i'll post in a day or so. Its totally standard and dark grey. Don't know the VW name for the colour. Looks like any other golf which is what I wanted, but it won't be long before a remap methinks.

You were right Matt, its a world away from the V5, I'm happy I didn't buy that.

Here you go Matt, I know it should go in the right section but just a couple here, whoever bought it new must have been the tightest person because it has no extras at all, no mats no armrest which is a big ball ache and no sunroof which I'm not to bothered about.

It seems as honest as it could be. 2 things I've found are the aircon doesn't work (needs regassing I guess) and the drivers door is probably a replacement because it's slightly out of line. I hpi'd it and all is well with no claims so someone probably got a scrappy door.

Been driving an old MR2 for a while and this seems really quick in comparrison just not as much fun.
