I really need some proper motorsport wheels for my a3, esp now i have huge porsche 6 pots up front, dont like running spacers

Where is the best place to be looking at for these kind a wheels?

I'm guessing you'll need an 18" to clear your stoppers??

Subaru use a lot of 5x100 PCD wheels, so you could pick up some of the nice Prodrive ones or any motorsport wheel made for the Impreza, of which you'll find loads.

Some Toyotas/Jap stuff are 5x100, old Celicas and the like throw up tarmac rally wheels. Similarly, have a look into the Jap tuning market as they're big on lightweight stuff. Enkei, Rota etc..

Closer to home, OZ's Superlegs/Ultralegs/Allegeritas are only about 500-800g heavier than my 7.6kg Mg ones... but do not have the same kind of strength, Superlegs have been known to crack very easily on our potholed roads, a track might be more kind on them though.

I run Speedline Turinis on the road (again, see the Subaru for cheap ones), they're comparible in weight to the OZs above at about 8.5kg in 18x8 but much stronger.

Team Dynamics ProRace 1.2s are a popular choice, being light at 8.9kg-ish and very cheap.

Then you've got the kind of stuff you find at Compomotive, a white MO on yours would be stunning.

BBS and the like too, if you can find some BBS RC in 18x8, they're very light.

It's a fairly common pattern, so you should be able to come across something suitable, just work out your offset range and be prepared to either spigot ring or machine them if they're not a VAG wheel.

Have a look through www.wheelweights.net for some suggestions, it's not 100% accurate but it'll give you some good ideas as to what to look for.

Pistonheads motorsport classifieds, racecarsdirect and do some Googling for race/rally sites. you'll find something.

Lastly, if you fancy something a touch leftfield. Later Delta Integrales use a 5x98 PCD, so with wobble bolts you could run the holy grail of motorsport wheels, if you can find some....

Ahhhhh the integrale wheels, god i love them!

Cheers for sugestions, i really want to avoid the need for spacers so a long boss and low et required probably to clear my calipers, in 18" size yes

Am looking into 18" compomotive MO 6 spoke wheels, look real nice

I know I've had this convo with someone recently but Comp THs are virtually that Integrale wheel.

It's then just a question of sizes they come in, as they are limited.

Comp MOs in 6-spoke aren't a bad one. Also consider the straight-faced Speedline that's on post 1 of the Porn thread. Straight spokes look a damn sight harder than the curved ones, if you can find some.

Enquired recently about these, my all time favourite wheel. Not cheap and quite heavy. Thats where the magnesium alloys come in but Ive heard the crack easier,
    11.4kg for 8x17in TH's. Looking at 770. 16in about 660.
    Bloody love them though.

hell yeah, compo TH2's are hard as nails.

back to the 5x100 thing, my mate has impreza p1 alloy on his corrado. not a direct fit, needed spacers and machining out, but they look oh so hard and with the cheeky prodrive logo's cast in you just know they are pukka.

Pity you aren't 4 stud, you could have had my other set of TH1780's. I've mocked up a 352mm disc and Gt3 6 pot under those.

I've a really big thing for Speedlines. A set of type 2015 Monte Carlos would be my absolute dream, never happening on a MK5 though, sadly. They still make them to special order for the Lancia mob.

I think the one Chris mentioned doesn't go up to 18"?? the type 2010. Very popular though by all accounts, so possible to pick up 2nd hand.

I run the Type 2120 as a road wheel. Doddle to find in 5x100 and look great in white.

Well i'v just been quoted at around 1200 for a set of those in 8x18 5x100 et26 as a special order wheel

Its from this place, he has wide variety of compo wheels

    http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/Reyland-Motorsport__W0QQ_armrsZ1

I have also been onto compomotive directly, provided them with my brakes and disk drawing and they said MO1881 will clear my brakes with et26 or CXT with et26

both in 8x18, CXT weighs 9.6kg and MO comes in at 11.7 but is a lot stronger wheel for harshest of rally stages

Can get full set for 910 all inclusive, that is with quite big discount, some colours are extra

Right O, what you've been waiting for....slung 'em on as they stand.

No hours of cleaning, no tyre shine, no centre caps - just win.

Sadly there's nowt I can do about the mini holes, but they're only track slaggers after all I guess.

Yeah, steering response feels quicker and ride is a touch smoother, even though the sidewalls are hard as hell.

Need to find some alu S3 wishbones now, I'm on a weight saving mission - unsprung weight FTW!
