Has anyone had there car weighed on corner weight scales if so what was the total weight and what were the corner weights, I've borrowed a set from a friend to set up the race car before adjustment they were L/F 279.0 R/F 315.5 L/R 156.0 R/R 125.0 Total 876KG I will post the results once i've had a play
Have a read of this page, should give you a few ideas: http://www.grmotorsports.com/cornerweight.html
Thanks for that its a great help i will post the end results next week, I wonder if it could be done without the wheels on to make the coilover adjusment easier.
Reading Northampton Motorsports page they adjust the weghting by spring platform height, aswell as damping...
Damping does move around a significant amount of weight (about 1.5% in the F2). We always weigh it with the arbs disconnected and all the clicks of the shocks. Tyre pressures can also make a difference.
Could it be done without the wheels on so i can get to the spring, I've made up four small ply wheels so the discs done rest on the scales and damage them and allows me to do an adjustment quicker.
Surely the whole point of it is to 'adjust' the weight distribution of the car, the wheels and tyres weigh 'something' so they contribute to the total weight of the car. 'fraid you'll have to p1ss around with the wheels on, then take 'em off,.... mess around again and so on. I'd like to get my car done at some point but once you take a passenger out on track it ruins the set up, unless they add weight of driver and passenger during the set up and you always take the same passenger and they always weigh the same Edited by: GVK
All the wheels weigh the same according to the scales so if the car gets set up without them then i put them back on the weight distribution must be the same, Well i hope it will be. I just want to make life easy for myself but end up making it more dificult.
I am suprised at how good that is, Jack up the platforms on the RR and you wont be far out. Ususally they are heavier on the RR than LR because of the fuel tank and lardy driver all on that side of the car. But as a few people have said the ARB must be disconnected. Damping isn't so important on saloons but if you can slacken off do so, but also make sure the car is settled....i.e. roll it forwards and backwards bouncing slightly. Otherwise the friction between the tyre and the scales can jack up the suspension.
Nice and even across the back. Did you try it with your disc's on instead of the wheels? Did it change much?
What a crock, if the dampers are making a difference they're not leveling properly, which can easily be sorted manually and the tyre pressures make sod all difference unless they are so far out the sidewalls go flat and change the ride height!
