Well now's your chance to vote and give a brief answer as to why your choice is better.

turbo, as you dont lose any power spinning it up, and new variable vane jobbies give you the best of both worlds (small and big turbo effect (minimal lag with high boost)).

not anymore, well for the time being atleast

    Turbo IMO

    (oops brief answer)

Modern turbos run efficiently, are more reliable than they used to be, are cheaper to replace as a unit, give you more BHP for your Buck

I gotta be honest i like NA golf, but i suppose if i was to go for forced induction them i wood go for the supacharger, i think they smoother then any turbo could be, and besides nova boys can have turbos and none of us want to be assositated with those (choose your word).

have you sat in a VAG 1.8T car recently nic_ape? go try a 150bhp standard mk4 turbo, and see how smooth that is. If you ask me, it's smoother than my dad's supercharged Merc.

Well ive been in the Octavia vRS and i will admit it was smooth but surely when ur caneing it a supercharger gotta be smoother (in terms of power delivery).

I might make that my mission now to test the difference between the two.

Agree with that, obviously you can get that engine to provide quite big power but in standard form the car is a bit of a let down. Far too sensible... ;)

Problem is, people wiill vote, without actually trying, owning or nothing anything about any of them.....so it's a bit of a worthless poll really.

    Your probably right there!!

Anyways, my A3 1.8T is super smooth. The low end torque (compared to my mk2 valver) is very welcome.

I don't notice any turbo lag, in fact I can't even here the damn thing spin up!!

I've driven MK4's and they do feel flat. Mine seems a little more responsive (I don't know the kerb weights of the top of me head), but it definately needs a remap.

I'll let ya know how it feels after mine gets mapped next month.

Oh yeah back to the poll. I vote turbo, as the vag chargers I've touched have all broken!! [:o)]

From a technical point only, i vote the supercharger... but as with modern turbo's becoming a lot more efficient and smooth and lasting longer, it's only time when a turbo can deliver supercharger style boost.

If installed correctly, nitrous is can give very big but safe power increases, its just a sod to get the bottle filled up when it runs out, but nitrous gets my vote

Exactly same here, driven a G60 and G40 which were superp, I own the MK4 Turbo and love it.

So I have voted Turbo, tho hard decision cause I loved the noise of the charger [:s]

maybe i could use this poll to decide which system to install in my 16v, i was gonna have a turbo fitted but i heard a few negative things about aftermarket turbo fitments, so that put me off.
