i love it when your driving through a town slowly and loads of people look at the mk2 in a surprised way and just makes me proud to own 1..... 2 of them! and there faces when my subframe scrapes the speed bumps is just priceless!!
here in Cyprus "old" cars have a fairly low price and i just bought another mk2 for 1000 euros! its a 92 model fully loaded as it was a vw demo car.its an 8v pb 4 door in oak green runing cream electric recaro interior electric sunroof, mirors, windows, centrall locking,a/c and p/s and after 20 years everithing works!!! the only adition that the owner did to it is a set of apex springs and a back box! thats wat i love about them! that everything works as its suposed to every time! now the car also has a digifitz dash i had at home and stagered borbet a's and it looks just right!
COS MINE IS FAST INIT BRUV, IT GOT SUM PUKA NEONS IN FRONT GRILL SEE BUTT AND ITS ON ITS AR5E. And on a serious note, it's because it's got my stamp on it. My own little bits here and there which I can proudly say ' I did that' Oh, and it makes a right 'ucking racket
no longer drive a mk2 but what i loved most about driving a mk2 gti 16v was the cheeky susprise it could pull out over and above so called quicker modern cars...epic fun to drive when on full throttle infact fook it im selling the corrado and getting another mk2 16v
ill dry to get some pics up as soon as posible as thecar needsa bit of ttidening up....i know it sounts unreal, thats wat i thought when i first saw the car 1 month ago!
i love my mk2 because my mrs keeps catching me smiling at it when its been washed and polished.she doesnt GET the vw thing and thinks im a bit mental for smiling at a car
Well, I've owned mine for 20 years (from new) and I've spent the last couple of days with the DA polishing it.... Have never lost interest in it, and like others have said, it makes you smile every time you drive it.... Almost impossible to imagine life without it after all these years! Got an EP3 CTR as well, nice enough car.....just not in the same league as a MK2 IMO...
but i love the buzz you get when you dust a poser in his new, fast car on HP, in my 22 year old golf! priceless!
If a human could be a car it would move and flow with the road the way a golf mk2 does; it would curve those roundabouts and corners with ease, gliding and hugging and controlling the tarmac, it would speed up instantly to get out of and away from trouble, or just to leave the numpty behind. The human car would purr exactly like a golf mk2, loving being loved, loving being stroked and driven, loving to drive. It is the ultimate driving experience on 4 wheels. Thank you VW.
Abit un-nerved after rasujaha's reply.... But the thing I love is, how they can really **** you right off when something goes wrong...and you'll promise thats it and you've had enough...."i'm just gonna fix it and sell it"... but then you drive it....and you 4get alllll about the problems.... Bloody cars got us wrapped round there wheels!
Same here.. although she doesnt want to idle anymore [:^(] Im sure we can work it out together, after all new cars come and go but This.. is forever. Love my golf, Never selling her again
