according to mfa on 8v I get 48 when doing 55-60 on motorway with very progressive use of accelarator.

even when having fun it only dips to 33 lowest.

think its got to be faulty althought its much better on fuel than 1.6 & 1.8 drivers I used to own

Yeah i dont believe the mfa when it comes to mpg.

Maybe its the way in drive - it just seems to eat (drink?) petrol.

Seems to be getting about 40 miles out of a tenner.

    which is 16mpg

thats half the time thrashing and half the time normal driving, which is horrific!

and im 17 with a part time job, it;s going to have to be bye bye golf =[

my 8v k-jet averages about 35mpg in a mk1 cabrio, but thats driving pretty tame 90% of the time. My old 8v digi mk2 did about 22mpg but it was always driven in anger and was very modified.

Get it running right and you should see double that, and try not to drive like a testosterone fuelled teenager.

What you have to remember with the mfa is, that it is working out mpg based on vacuum and road speed, and tuned with the cars original base mpg figures in mind (ie brand new mk2 8v, no mods, perfect setup etc, factory basicaly).

More vacuum technicaly means better mpg than less vacuum at a given road speed.

I get about 40mpg on a run in my 2.0 8v, and about 29mpg round town based on my own figures etc.

I dont trust the MFA, says i get about 18 when booting it and no more than 26 when driving at a constant 50 down an A road... yet i put 20 quid in, and get about 130 miles... for a mix of booting and sensible.
