I suspect something like this will be on a VW somewhere, to save me a trip down the machine shop:

There's an M6 version on a MK1 Golf GTI cambelt cover IIRC, with an allen head on it, and a really wide washer head, so I'm thinking one of the VAG mechanics on here will probably know where to get some, and I can then just walk into a dealer and order one. Would be much easier.

    TIA :)

It's that damned photobucket barring software that people are starting to use - it blocks everything.

found part number/ pic for m6 version, can't think of anything with same bolt on

is it std vag application?? or just a usful thing to get a job done, had look though std hardware, the cam belt nut not listed, special application?

It's non-standard, so I'm just looking out for one, since the blighter must exist somewhere (!) and there's a decent chance of one on a VW.

I’ve found a bolt from a VW/Audi that could be made into what you want, it’s the same design as the VW cam belt cover bolt buy with no hole and thread, could easily be drilled and tapped out with an M8 thread. Head diameter 26mm, shank diameter 18mm, shank length 38mm but could be shortened before drilling and tapping, hex socket is for 8mm allen key.

It’s from the cam belt tension on 1.8t’s[:-B] [:-B] [:-B]

Can’t buy them separately, they come with the tensioner on 1.8t’s etc, I have one fro and old tensioner if you need it

most bolts on vag cars are made by ABUS, see if they sell any. VR6 engine cover bolts are similar, but too small
