Window regulator cable snapped HELP!

    There isn't much adjustment in the regulators, besrt to have a look to see if you can figure out where the noise is coming from
    put it up in the classifieds, someone is bound to have a working regulator with a dead motor :)

    im assuming this is the only cable for the window as my window cable snapped the other night and i cant do my window up, i was told by my mechanics that i would need to replace the whole window mechanism is it possible i can replace just the regulator?

    if you can find one the same as your old one yes, VW ones come in 2 parts as do most aftermarket ones. You need to ID what you have, then try to find another the same :)

    As far as I know the window mech is just one part which is the metal bar with cable running through it and both ends of the cable going into the motor. I dons see how that part can be broken down?

    the motor can be detached from the regulator, thats it. The cables arnt directly attached to the motor they're attached to a gearing block.

    I see what you mean [:$] but I dont think GSF sell them as seperate parts.

    no not as far as I'm aware, VW do but it will cost you!

    hopefully be going to GSF tomorrow to get my replacement just need to find out which one i have! are they different order numbers? getting desoerate now as my window has had to be taped up atm lol

    dont worry about the order numbers just tell them what year your car is and they will do the rest.

    the ones gsf sell are both the motor & regulator, for the later spec doors with the single piece glass. just make sure you order the right side :lol:

    excellent cheers for the help everywhere else ive asked no ones been able to tell me will see if they got one in stock at my local gsf tomorrow

    Are the motors the same in the N/S and O/S? I'm after a motor for my N/S door, and if they're the same, I'll take it off you.

    genuine vag ones certainly arnt, not sure about aftermarket...

    just been and got my new window regulator and its spot on just need to change the plug over now i aint got no spade connectors is there another way to do it which wont result in me taking the door cards off every week to re connect it again lol
