Only thing I always hate doing is fitting an exhaust system on my back, with the car 4inches off the ground and dirt in my eyeballs...

Fitting another turbo to my car. The old one was bad enough to get out - try fitting in a bigger one!

Intake manifold removal, Mk2 1.6 driver. Access just hideous.

One of the inner capheads had rusted, and rounded off as I tried to undo it.[:^(]

Eventually found that a square-ended Allen key, cranked over to about a 30-degree angle from perpendicular, worked as a kind of rotational crow-bar...

Yep i have to agree with you on this one, especially when all the bolts are similiar to something you would find on the titanic.

EZ pete, I found the inlet manifold on my driver easy going, once I found all the bolts with my finger. Trying lots of extension length combos did the trick.
Most frustrating job must be the heater matrix, definatley gives the most scratched hands.
*edit* actually those C clip exhaust manifold things really suck

ceased on rounded off rusty brakepipes where there's no access (the one above the bias valve)

Not Golf, but having been putting off changing the starter motor on my Mk3 Polo G40.

Nasty tight hole with no real good access. I just know it'll take hours faffing around

exhaust manifold on mk2 16v, not too much fun when the nut thats near impossible to get to in the first place rounds off....

that or bent driveshaft and wishbone replacement... you're just torqueing the bolts back up then the captive nuts come off[8(]

actually i hate welding underneath a car. ignoring the pain element the sound a piece of molten metal makes as it burns its way through the lining of your ear is not pleasant.
