Here's my limited build thread http://www.dubforce.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=15279&st=0&gopid=130601&#entry130601
I've fitted a v band adaptor to the exhaust housing and had the k04 flange cut off the Qpeng downpipe and a Vband one welded on.
Subframe back in... nearly back on 4 wheels! Subframe, wishbones etc all back in with another 50 worth of new VW bolts! Sorry the photos are a bit crap it was dark!
where did you get the v band adaptor for your downpipe? looking good still!! got some serious hardware there.
I thought It might be handy for others doing a similar conversion to put up a list of VW part numbers for the bolts needed to re-fit the subframe/ wishbones etc N0 195 461 X2 N10 141 701 X2 N90 305 901 X4 N10 234 204 X1 N10 048 703 X1 N0 447 601 X1 191 411 334 X2 N10 209 603 X2 N10 257 501 X2 N10 087 403 X2 N10 195 301 X2 N0195 042 X2 N0 195 334 X3 Some of these numbers have been superceeded but I didn't write them down
Rolling again! hopefully get a load more done tomorrow but it was great to get it back on 4 wheels today G60 Calipers with new seals and paint New 280mm Discs, Greenstuff pads, bearings, tie rod ends, and bolts Oil cooler, shallow sump and intercooler
they look sweet, just decided i want a change from the bbs rms, ive just got a set of the 928s. gota love the oldskool porsche rims...
I've been searching Regarding - fuel pumps would i be right in saying the std digifant 8v pump isn't going to up to the job if its running 300+bhp?
We found the Turbo will never fit in the engine bay with the crap eBay manifold so I have ordered the JBS STAGE 1 UNDER-SLUNG Manifold which should arrive next week, i'll try and add some more pics later - hopefully fit the shallow sump and get the pedal box out today. thanks for the advice on the fuel pump Challice i've found a k-jet one now.
Liking this build thread! Turbo looks to be really low - bet it will be a bugger to fiddle with once the engine is dropped in.
GearBox, Shallow sump and pedal box Yeah that manifold was a load of rubbish the new JBS underslung one should get it higher and closer to the engine Drilled and tapped the new shallow sump Fitted the clutch and gearbox Also started fitting the Corrado pedal box which doesn't look too bad
are u running a dbw accelerator pedal on the rado pedal box? also where did you get the shallow sump from mate. Cool build thread, defo keeping my eye on this as it will help me no end. Loving the porsche alloys as well!
Cheers Im getting the dbw bit of the pedal welded to the corrado acc pedal this week I will get some good pics, the shallow sump I got on eBay
Got the DBW bit of the pedal welded to the corrado acc pedal today, haven't got home to see if it fits yet but here it is -
Coming along nicely fella. Right manifold with have the turbo sitting at the back of the head for easy access and leave room for downpipe to meet exhaust. Interested to know what kind of power are you hoping to achieve with this (I presume 350ish bhp)? Are you going to reinforce any internals to handle the additional pressure of forced induction with that turbo? Additional pressure on the internals running a bigger turbo will bend things. I'm running a GT30 (which has just gone pop) and that was putting out 410bhp (and could have done more with the correct fueling set up) but the engines had some serious work to cope. You may want to consider the following (brands are irrelivent but you get the idea about additional works): forged con rods fully flowed and skimmed head supertech stainless steel inlet valves supertech inconel exhaust valves supertech uprated valve springs and retainers 440cc injectors
Thanks, I can't wait to get it finished now the weather is getting better it shouldn't be too much longer, what manifold is yours running? I could only find a couple that would fit. the JBS one should arrive this week so i'll post some good pics of where the turbo ends up. I'm hoping for 300-350bhp the idea of fitting the GT28RS was to get the most out of the engine without having to uprate the internals, the std S3 internals should be fine up to 350bhp imo, if the AF ratios are rich it will provide a cooling effect on the pistons. I must admit I'm not sold on the whole skimming and flowed head on turbo motors I don't think its required and also bumps up the compression so you can't ultimately run as much boost what where the before and after compression ratios, and the head flow figures before and after and at what valve lift the figures were taken at? Did your engine go pop or the GT30?
