I've got R888's, They've been on all year = 8 sprint events and a Track day and will last half of next year.
They do get a bit of abuse i've just finished 9th out of over 300 entered in the speed league, and 9th in the Borough 19 speed league.

Well track days are a little tough on Tyres, With sprints you only go out at the most two laps at a time so the tyres hardly get time to warm up. Also the car only weighs 820kg so that helps.

Never done a sprint so don't know.

How long are the sprint tracks you do Steve, and how many runs on average will you get a day?

Well we do all the usual Tracks like Lydden, Brands, Snet Hethel, Silverstone and so on, Depends on where you go and how many competitors are running as to how many runs and laps you get, Most circuits are out lap and an in lap so two laps per run, 2x practice runs and 3x Timed runs.

steved, Do you find the topmounts to be crashy at all?

Do you run wide track as well?

These top mounts are far better than the oe mounts on coilovers, No noise or movement at all. The Golf runs standard track with wider offset but i'm in the process of changing it to wide arch 8 x 15s and wider offset.

It seems strange to me that no one does a caster only top mount for the Golf. There must be enough camber adjustment on the strut leg already.

Not really, you can normally only get about 2 deg neg on a mk1. Also you can still use the eccentric mount to adjust the castor alone if you set it in it's full forward or rear postion.

I have fitted the type of top mounts to other fwd race cars. The caster and camber isnt such an issue as you can dial these in other areas, were I found there advantage was on your KPI, if you running large offset wheels or spacers these can inprove your turn in massivly, giving the front of your car a much sharper feel.

    Bump for the above!

Any chance they do camber only adjusters in the same style?

That has to be some s**t hot material to hold those smaller bolts in situe if you were to hit a large pot hole/kerb on track.

Whilst bringing this thread back, for the original top mounts first posted, where do you set the camber bolt from the hub > shock absorber?

Does anyone know anything about these ones Daz posted?

They're off a Mk2 Golf VW Cup car done by the Duyrunski team. Believe they are home made / one offs.

Thought that might be the case Chris.

Maybe they were made at West End Precision who I believe are their sponsors...

Father Duyrunski owns West End, so one and the same.

They're total one-offs, so dimensions etc will have been derived by starting with a slab of alloy and a lathe.
