I know for a fact that Matt knows what this forums like - a hotbed of misinformation. I think he avoids it wherever possible for this very reason and has probably not seen this thread. Plus they are very busy whenever I speak to them, working on customers cars. Did I mention that they fixed the exhaust on my scirocco for free? That car has never had any other work done there, before you assume (as I am sure you will) that they caused it to break!

If I hadnt replied about my car, would you all believe that it was being used as a skip and was a show car when it went in there or that they have sat on it for 2 years (it hasnt even been there much over a year  for no reason?

in a perverse way, you all posting made up "facts" about my car (I think I know better ;)) proves my point and reassures me that threads like this are mostly bollox.

please, im not saying anyone is a liar! Just that because its on the internet doesnt make it true. Does it not ever occur to you people that perhaps without being told lies you have got the wrong end of the stick just by not having all the FACTS?

if I believed every bad comment from a disgruntled customer on the internet, I' never have pai anyone any money for anything.

from the internet (infact club gti at times):
    mk2 golfs are crap
    VWs are unreliable
    ghosts exist (or do not)
you can get 5bhp on any car by putting a resistor in the ecu loom.

    [:$]

Has it not occurred to anyone here that perhaps if anyone should be complaining its me? Assuming everything you all read on this forum and make up in your own heads without all the facts to be true that is...

five years ago yes. and it had problems when i bought it 4 years afterwards that were left over from awesomes work, believe it or not! some of which designa dubs fixed. i bet simon wasnt posting publically back then that hey c0cked it up, because he got what he paid for by the looks of the receipts I got for it. Which was a perfectly driveable, working car, but it was far from perfect. Then again he probably didnt expect a brand new perfect car to come out after paying 15k for a ton of work by a small VW specialist and a car that was worth around 9k then (the base rallye SE was included in the price)...

off the top of my head, the radiator fans were wrong for the rad, seriously impeding airflow, (and held in with cable ties!), the gearbox was too low geared for the engine, the custom exhaust was rubbing on the propshaft, and the wiring was a mess! but nobody went around saying he had been ripped off because they had spotted something in a pic he posted online.

they could also have been introduced after awesome did the work. I forgot to mention that bit, just goes to show how easy it is to get the wrong idea!

five years ago golden. I dont see much disparity between that and paying 4k now for a 20vT into mk2 rallye that cost you 4k now.

that included the respray which was of a very very high quality, the vr6 syncro box from germany, the MJ leather interior retrim and the ICE, I believe. It was far more than an engine conversion.

He paid them in instalments too. Bet nobody commenting on it knew that either. facts. Not all of them get posted, there are too many. So fill in the blanks, read between the lines and read that 2+2=5 if you want.

if you knew well enough to spot it would'nt you have done it yourself? I know I would. You pay these people for their expertise.

What was that tuner that put his customers into 3 categories? something like number 1 pays his money and takes what he is given, number 2 pays, complains, says bob woulnt o it like that and the bloke down the pub says this that an the other, and number 3 who knows what he wants and specifies it in detail so as not to have any misunderstandings beforehand.

I can spot some pretty horrific workmanship in those photos earlier in the thread, yet I wouldn't/can't do the work myself.

I see an unfinished job. I dont personally believe that DD were happy with it either, there must have been some other influence to cause that. Something none of us know about.

I'm still waiting for the receipt for my engine conversion after I asked Matt for it face to face and I've emailed them several times since... I also haven't had a reply to the last 5 or so emails sent months ago. [xx(]

i am happy with my engine now, but only after I sorted a couple of issues out myself. Today I degreased the engine and within 5 mins it was looking a lot better.

I would like a longer geared 'box as i feel it has less top speed than the 170k 8v I had in there before. maybe it's just me being me. Aswell as the shifting being difficult to get in gear some of the times.

I'm not saying lets all run round their and torch their workshop or anything like that. I simpley wanted to tell the story of my engine conversion and the way that DD fixed it after another month and a half.

All this talk of Voodoo, would you trust someone who leaves the packaging on a camping barbeque then wonders where the dodgy smell is coming from to do an engine conversion?
