I think the TVR Golf took it one more step mind but not as far as this: QUOTED from me: Also as i said you could say the same about the Beetles in the (is it the funny car or summit?) where the only thing used from a beetle is the windscreen. The body is just a mould made to look like a Beetle, it's all space framed underneath & they run the old Golf engines in the back. But if you show a car to Joe Public & they recognize the shape that's what it will always end up being called. Sometimes you should draw a line .
Couldn't care less tbh. Seems like more willy waving in this thread. Den hit the nail on the head in post 83.
I was refering to RobT's original post... Your right, I didn't read the post's from your disscussion, bar the first few. Couldn't be arsed tbh
Fwap fwap fwap tbh. Seraph, i directed at the people who were getting attacking about it. Its an opinion. If someone doesnt like yours, i wouldn't get annoyed aboot it.
It doesn't really work like the S2 example though. The S3 engine is so many other cars, it's not really specific to the S3 Additionally, theres plenty of the engines about. No-ones going to miss one here and there that ends up in a clio, or god forbid, a mk2golf!
Bump for a topical thread. PVW this month has a take on this, in an article about a mad Audi 80 with Group B underpinnings: Take too much away and the soul goes with it? Is soul what's it's all about?
This thread went away i think for the reason that its completely pointless. Its all just drivel that magazine churn out to keep themselves in print. Soul? what soul! a car is a car not a bleeding living breathing object! How many things can you actually say about a car before you start to repeat your self hence why the mags and muppets from other forums come up with shte like "scene" "stance" and soul. When does a golf stop being a golf? When it doesnt look like one, a golf is but a name.
Interesting thread havn't looked through all the pages but this is an interesting topic. My Mate Bargate was running in the sprint at Inters last year in his MK2 LHD 16v Rocco still 020 box and 16v bit on TB's ! got kicked out of the Coupe Class for not complying with spec ? But the class was won by a Rado 20vt which was more from standard spec than Paul's Rocco. so its the same old question how far from standard spec can you go ? We both run 020 Gearboxes and 4 pot 16v's NASP which i think is close enough although mine is a MK1 that was never a 16v as standard but MK2 Rocco's were, this is why i was toying with the idea of a big valve cross flowed 8V Head so the question i have is who's got the fastest MK1, MK2 & Rocco's which are still on orginal Gearbox and pot NASP ?
