You will not beat the 2.0 escort boys that easy, Those cars are f***ing quick, They all have an MSA log book that allows more things to be done to the car, I done north wealed last sunday and a bloke turned up in a striped out 205 MI16, People said i had no chance so onthe first prictice i went 6 seconds quicker Edited by: steved
You forgot to mention the very important "thing" needed. {edited to note I see you & rob have.. LOL) Edited by: badger-bill
Steve, I did the Rushmoor Arena circuit on Sunday, and I'm a member of the FDMC. My next booked event is Goodwood on 30th May. I have some in car footage if anyone is kind enough to host it for me ??
Why don't you come down Lydden for the track/ test day on bank holiday monday (half day) run by semsec, I'm booked at snet on the 7th next month, I was hoping to do Goodwood at the end of this month but i work most Saturdays. Have you got that date right Goodwood is 30th april
Mines got the 1.9 'thing', not as effecitive as a sorted 2.0 with a 'thing', but its a 100cc smaller 'thing' so not to be expected. They are hard to get hold of tho, some times they do com up on e-bay on rare occasions tho, listed under 'thing' or sometimes 'go faster ujamflip whotisname bit' sometimes pricy tho & not all are genuine 'things' so cavat emptor on thingius purchius- as they say in latin
Steve, yes it is the 30th April, not May Can't make the Bank Holiday, Sorry. So The "thing" is basically the little piece of magic that makes the whole go faster than the sum of the parts... Started the search for the 2.0 engine, I think I'd like a whole engine to rebuild and slot in when I swap over, rather than buying a 6a bottom end and having the car off the road for a while when the head is off being breathed on...I don't suppose anyone want's to swap a 1.8T setup do they ???? Chris - do you mean the *thing* is a VW Motorsport metering head? or were you just captioning the pic you posted randomly?
Carl what you need to do first to be competitive in C7 is remove anything in the car that is not required then get the car setup correct on the weight scales, In competition forget about looks, Do you need big bumpers and plastic sills, rubber mouldings, Half the steel that holds the bumper on, Under trays on the dash etc etc
Steve, I did think about that but I decided to keep the decent bumpers in case I want to use it for other forms of Motorsport later on, like road rallys etc.
Can anyone confirm this for me? I've been reading the American book "Volkswagen Sport Tuning for street and competition" and it states that the best motor to start off with is... "...the late model GTI/Digifant or a 2.0-litre 16 valve engine... The late model 16-valve engines have a big valve head with 40-mm intake and 33mm exhaust valves, high compression ratio, and a larger cylinder block..." So I take it they're recommending the ABF engine then?
