Glad it helped  main reason I started there was the lack of info on installing a roll cage to the mk3

Figured out why it's a bit over exposed. Spot metering was turned off on the go pro. Silly me lol

little update of work so far, part way through so some updates to come as and when... I'm remaking the dash panels for the car, when I fitted the oil pressure gauge I put it on a blind spot on the dash, behind where my hand obscures while driving. So I made a complete panel up and masked it up, then drew where I could see so I know where to put things in plain site of the driver. the switches from the panel I had made that was in the upper section of the dash are being moved to the lower section where the heater controls are located, the heater matrix and fan are being removed and a inline bilge fan being fitted to a flick switch.

Im using black ABS plastic to make the panels and covering in carbon wrap when complete, the ABS is great to work with as it cuts well and you can heat it into shapes. I made a dremel work station to make things easier this time as last time I made the panels I had a few trials and errors to get the final panel made, this time my tool helps with accuracy of the shape and drilling holes.

anyway, onto the centre panel, I am also removing the ignition barrel and steering lock and fitted an ignition switch and push button start, for two reasons I have installed an extra two swithes, reason one is it makes the panel look symmetrical and also leaves room for things at a later date as they just need wiring up.
OBD socket relocated to lower section out of site along with 12v socket

labels added, I have two ignition switches, although they are rated high enough for one switch I am splitting the coil ignition and the feed for the lights etc to save worry.

dash panel made as one piece this time so removed the front of the dash clock section and my new panel will be the facia.
    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

plan is to leave room for other dials at a later stage so just planning out the visible space, the lines on the right show the non visible parts to the driver
    [IMG][IMG]

as you can see the right hand side of the driver where I originally fitted the oil gauge is virtually obscured to the driver
    [IMG]

my dremel tool helped get I nice straight line of the cuts

    finished panels so far.

Liking the dremel stand. A lot

Not keen on the big washers. Paint em black or wrap them ?

A timer ? if a TDO sees that running, you`ll be going home...

Not concerned the 12v plug will vibrate loose and drop out on circuit with the socket pointing down ?

How does the abs secure to the dash / cowl ?

Thanks nige, I added the washers to stop the wrap tearing and swirling when tightening the switches, I actually think they look good as they are

The timer is used for session time not lap times and I've never had an issue yet.

No chance of the 12v socket falling out, either inside the dah or out. Here is a pic of installed in the last panel, same method in the new. Two metal prongs secure it in place with some hot glue for extra support and to keep it from jiggling

The abs screws to the dash via the original mounting points for the old panels

Thought I'd try removing the washers from the dash between the switch and the panel. I fitted them as I was worried the switches would tear the carbon wrap when I tightened them. So with nige nagging in my head lol I thought I'd try as worse case I could refit the washers to hide any tear. But with a gentle tightening they were fine so updates panel below. Thanks nige:thumbup:

I do think that looks much better.

Just my opinion, don`t change it just because of what I say lol

Have you fitted them to flick UP for on ???

Shame you can`t join us at Bedford though.

Yes they do look much better. Glad I did it. Sometimes you take the easy option to save damaging your hard work but glad I tried it.

Yes flick up for on and down for off.

Gutted about bedford. Still a little possibility but don't want to say just yet. Thought best to let you know where I'm at at the moment. Car does need a run so I need to go lol
