I got mine before the price hike too Manifold & system for less than what just the manifold costs now. Gurds
I have to admit that I think you should just buy it and see how it goes. Looking at it, it seems like it's ok, and it'll probably flow as well as the rest. There's only so many you can bend a pipe to fit into the mk1 on a large production scale, so it isn't going to be far off, if any, than that of the bigger names. Quick pic: Comparing this to the Supersprint it's pretty close. The only question is going to be the fit. NEither have equal length headers, so it ain't going to be down to flow rates as both aren't going to be the best in the world. I had a mk2 valver one in the garage a while back. Quality was very nice, far better than the peice of crap Magnex thats on the car when I bought it Pays your money and take your chances.
from that photo thou the primaries don't line up with the head. a friend of mine bought one and it a B*****d to fit. but for the price difference i'm sure you can live with that, also when you look into the pipework were ther was alot of excessive metal stil in there.
next question - what length of exhaust wrap would be sufficient? do different brands vary or are they all the same?

have a read of this thread. some links in it to suppliers http://clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=207327
dude you're coming across like a spoiled teenager ive got a hottuning manifold, bought it 3 years ago, still havent fitted it, but ill report back when i have, ive shown it to some of my colleagues they think like myself that the welds looks good at least, but im not going for mad cams or owt, just an ABF with ITB's some of the reports i heard about the coilovers were chavs complaining that the ride was too harsh..they didnt appreciate that one reason the coilovers were cheap was that they arent adjustable for damping, just ride height
Just to throw this into the mix! I have a Dubpower manifold and i was very impressed at the quality of the welds and the fit up to the engine. It includes a straight section with a flex joint. Customer service is very good also.[/IMG] [/IMG]
the heat shield on the downpipe for my mk3 16v is now totally shagged must admit id be tempted with a bling manifold
i think we need a who has what on theres!!! i have a 4-1 manifold.. put on by previous owner which is simply welded to the rest of the 1.6 gti system..(looks like dubpower less the flexy section gash to me so after a new one. cars a mk1 golf with standard kr. peaks around 5500-7200 so not that torquey! while were at it. what size diameter system is good for all round performance (ashley is 2 1/4) (jetex 2.5) i personally was looking at the dubpower one but looking at others due to peoples views on 4-2-1/ standard manifolds (from build threads)
On a stock KR 2" or 2 1/4" is plenty. A tubular manifold will make little or no difference on a standard engine.
Re HotTuning Manifolds... I just received this by PM on another forum, in a conversation about a Dubpower manifold I'm selling. I didn't prompt this at all. Hope yours is better than that.
i got mine last week and it looks to be of good quality. its going to be a little while until i get it on though. i read the thread on vortex and there were a few issues, but nothing that an angle grinder and a welder cant sort out. as i said before, i'd rather cut this up than a supersprint
If the bolt holes don't line up, that's easily solved. If the primaries don't line up with the ports, that's a bigger issue.
