    Bloody VW's, it's a disease!!

Corrado has to come off the road for more work, and I'm struggling to get to work (a combination of lifts and mountain bikes that keep falling to peices).

so, yesterday I bought myself a nice '51 plate golf V6 4 motion.

    black (not mettallic unfortunatley)
    Black Recaro Leather
    walnut dash trim. (eeeurgh)
Nokia DSP sound system and 6 disc changer.
    Sunroof and climatronic
    17" santa monicas
    43K on the clock.

    downsides being

    a: it's a 5 door
b: the sump is cracked so the bottom is knackered
    c: it's a 5 door
    d it's got more than 3 doors.
e: need a new passenger rear door.
f: it's on a CAT, got written off due to the engine damage
g: the front doors are too small and it has these funny extra flaps in the rear quarters. to enable you to acess the rear seats.

praise the lord for 0% credit cards!!

I'll run it through the winter whilst I'm finishing off the corrado and playing with my bike, then it'll be forced with the decision of whether to sell it or sell the corrado. should be too hard. if it was a 3 door I'd think about keeping it for the daily hack. can't afford to keep them both unfortuatley.

I think I'll stick the R32 suspension on it too, possibly the brakes if I can't find a buyer for them soon. and maybe even the R32 wheels too. what do you reckon to those in black on a lowered black mk4 with huge brakes?

what are they worth these days? I could only find one on autotrader under 10K, and it wasn't this spec or this new. I've bought it to fix and sell on so I'm hoping it's going to be worth at least 10K?

no, don't really like mk4's either, but I should be able to use it for the winter and still sell it on for a tidy profit.

Ive seen 4 motions cheaper than that Paul, and on a CAT C or D its always going to be worth less. But as you say, it was engine damage not chassis/panel work, so thats a bonus.

Plus it's fully loaded and low mileage, unlike the cheap ones you see on autotrader.

How much did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking?

Suspension and wheels sound like a good idea.

    price?

well, too much for me to afford to keep it, put it that way.

but cheap enough for me to be able to fix, run for 6 months and still sell on for a few grand profit.

Unfortunately they're worthless these days - that's why I plan on keping mine for another couple of years.

A straight one is 10k at best so I think 10k for a CAT listed car is very optimistic.
Even though only the engine is damaged the fact it was written off because of it suggests it's taken a bit of abuse. A buyer would be wanting it cheap.

I'm sure Phat has sold ice to eskimo's before

seriously though, with phat's work i'm sure that it'd be different from the autrader norm.

worthless eh....and 10K.....well next time you have a spare 10K that you feel is worthless then throw it my way.

I've done a country wide search on autotrader. only one under 10K, and it was on a W reg, no leather and had 104K on the clock..........

CAT D doesn't "suggest" anything. it means it's been written off as it was "damaged beyond economical repair" becasue a new engine is about 6K...

f*cking doubters and negative f*cking w**kers, f*ck the lot of you, I hate forums, full of bell ends like this p****** on everything.

right, you go and build a fully loaded low mileage 4 motion with R32 brakes, suspension and wheels for under 7K........nah, didn't think you could.

Back to the topic, I think it'll look great on the R32 wheels and suspension, should drive lovely, and I'm sure you'll sell it for a decent amount of money - if the pope's old mk4 can sell for hundreds of thousands, then surely en ex-phat car must be worth a fair bit!

Agree with him - with the R32 parts and some Phat-magic, I reckon it'll be a good car when he's done.

Good luck with it, Paul :)

F*cking hell mate, calm down. You forget to take your pills today ?

My post probably wasn't the most constructive, was just my view and was intended to demonstrate a little realism.
Just because people are advertising them for over 10k doesn't mean that's what they eventually go for.
By 'worthless' I mean relative to what it was worth new (not so long ago).
The vast majority of people will not pay decent money for a CAT listed car.

You think I'm a bell end, fair enough but no way will that car fetch 10k - even with R32 brakes & suspension.

    Negative w*anker ? What's the need for that ?
Did I go on that you're a f*ckin this, that and other for thinking you can sell it for 10k ? No, I just stated an opinion. If you're going to get upset when someone doesn't kiss your your bottom and disagrees with you perhaps you shouldn't post on a public forum ?

Ps. your 'countrywide search' on Autotrader didn't work too well.
