The track car is getting a new engine when we finally get back to it as the 12V is already spoken for, just looking at all the options ;)

yeah they are original bildon motorsport ITB's guys as for the spec of them iv no idea tbh, iv emailed bildon about them and all they have been able to tell is that they only ever made a few sets of them are they were built to a different spec for each engine. the last set they made for the vr was around 5 years ago, im pretty much having to work out the problems as i go.

last week saw my mates ex-NASCAR twin roller barrel bodies, they are awesome! they're counter weighted so it takes almost no effort to open and close them and the aperture just opens up from the centre out, they're the way forward!

Longman Pug 206 ~ touring car spec motor:
    IMG_1923.JPG

Beat this car yesterday at Aintree - very good chat with the owners as well ;) - 288hp apparently. Very nicely put together motor but yesterday having some issues with effective tyre use. Will be an absolute rocket when its sorted.

Yes, a nice chap & nice motor, fettled by an ex-Longman employee (now that Longman have closed). Fully trimmed, full glazed road modified class car - I wonder what it weighs? ;)

Mentioned his slicks were just ones he had to hand ;). Just entered for the craic, looking to spread further afield.

Large array of machinery in these classes, it's easy to take it too seriously and miss the enjoyment I suppose..

But we'll take any decent pictures for this thread!

You mean the brand new Toyo Supersoft SG's he bought specifically?...... Nah, I think they were trying pretty hard ;). Rumoured 40-50K build on that car. Sounds pretty serious to me, but also looked like the lads were enjoying themselves.

Why dont you bring your Golf out next year and see how you fair? Then you will know first hand if its fun or not.

Eh? If he'd been taking it seriously, he'd have bought slicks!

How you compare Toyo SGs with Wrigleys hillclimb slicks... absolutely no comparison at all [8-}]

It's likely he's got an eye on future tyre rules for the road classes next year ;)

Edit: You've a well documented history on allowing competitive tension to cloud judgement on assessing relative tyre performance - but this properly takes the biscuit [:x]

These are VERY experienced campaigners - I'm sure they know what they are doing - I know of plenty of cars who choose these SG's over slicks so there must be something in that. I know for a fact that my own car goes better on treaded asphalt rally tyres (as used yesterday), than it did on full slicks supposedly designed for hillclimbing. Go figure. Presumably its all in the setup, and certain tyres just performing better on certain cars.

Yea, uber soft asphalt rally tyres designed for ice cold conditions like Monte Carlo! I know! See Wrigleys!

He has bought them with an eye on the future road classes adopting 1Bs in the suppl. regs, where he normally uses the car.

You beat him by how much?

"quarter of a sec is a country mile in sprinting. People spend hours testing, and thousands of pounds to find that kind of time" - Anon.

Go and beat someone on equal and fair terms - not a lardy road modified class car - and stop dodging the stiff competition at venues such as Loton Park, just to get trivial points hauls elsewhere. Utterly hollow & ludicrous.

Then talk all you like about results.

Sounds like a load of sour grapes to me Chris - when you achieve something yourself, you might be in a position to criticise.
