i failed one of my exams, basically a first fail but my work turned round to me and said if i fail my resit i'm out of a job basically. a few of us were quoted this. its a horrible feeling knowing that a meer few percent on an exam paper lets you have a job or not.

luckily i passed my exam luke so i'm safe for now, but i'm in the accountancy business and in all honesty no one is recruiting people mid way through their training courses and also becase of the nature of our contracts, a failure in our exam means no redundency costs for my firm. hate to say it but graduates are gonna have a hard time finding a job. uni degree means not a lot now, as experience carries more i have to say given when i've been looking elsewhere.

chatting to some of my clients they're really feeling the pinch and as a result i see the way they're going.

with more and more firms going bust, we're losing business. my boss has expressed his views on our firm and financial outcome. put it this way peeps, its gonna get worse before it gets better.

    Just been bagged (again...)

I knew it was coming up sometime next month.....I requested a holiday this morning, for next Friday. Booked the hotel (not a cheap one either). Then just been taken into the "private room" and told that the 6th is my last day...

Looks like I'm leaving on the 5th March then! yay, a long weekend THAT will be then eh.

Bearing in mind I first got told the Monday before xmas...and have been lookng for a job since. I can't find anything. Looks like I might have to take up to a 50% pay cut to find a job.

Look on the bright side - once you're out of work, you won't need to fill out a form for a day off, etc etc. Enjoy the break from working life while you can.

The new rules across the board, my friend.
Photography & Design are getting hit very very hard right now, and everybody is lowering their prices. Take whatever you can to pay the bills, tbh.

Dunno about that tbh. I work in Engineering and car share with 3 others, out of the four of us:

One has his last day with us tommorow.

Another is waiting for written conformation of a very attractive verbal offer.

    I've got an interview Friday.

All of the above could just be pure coincidence of course....

I did mean the 'drawing board', as in Creative/Design industries.
Graphic Design & Photo Retouch are taking significant hits as clients are starting to farm out less work, and do more in-house with non-specialised staffers. Their core income is Advertising, which itself is in sharp decline.
Noticed how many massively long TV ads have popped up lately?
Advertising space is getting cheaper and cheaper...

i can't complain, i've had more out of them in the last 15 months than i had out of my last staff job in 2.5 years....just wish i'd put a bit more of it aside for a rainy day instead of spending it all on cars!

the plus side is i can now change the hotel booking from weekend to mid week, i can now work friday (and get paid), go to the pub after work with the peeps i'm leaving, have the sunday to go to ultimate dubs if i can be bothered, and get a MUCH better room in the hotel and it's only 20 more than the cheaper room was at weekend rates :-)

Advertising is one of the things firms cut first, and it often cited as a barometer for general economic conditions.

The Shell contractors got a 12.5% pay cut the other day, and contractors industry wide are expecting a 10% day rate cut at least.
