Where are the pics of these new Skodas then? I've not touched my T4 for ages - totally fallen out of love with it. Roof rack and bull bars are sat there rusting and i've hardly driven it - Dad uses it more than me! Need to get shut of it early next year and then get the red one back on the road as prefer driving that soo much more. Where you up to with the Goof?
One thing you may need to think about is a boost aneroid for your pump, which you get on any stock mechanical TD pump. You can crank up the fuelling no problem, but there will be mega smoke til the turbo spools up. The aneroid has a pressure feed from the turbo and limits fuel based on this, i.e more boost = more fuel.
The Golf is nearly there just the trigger wheel which i think i know the problem now. Havn't taken any photo's of the Octavia as the weather has been bad, and the Fabia doesn't arrive till 14th January. so busy times
My KKK 014 Turbo has arrived for the T4 its off a Volvo V70 but has VW Part number 074 145 701B (Standard T4 is 074 145 701A). The Turbo is in excellent condition and no signs of wear and tear on the Turbine. Just waiting to the Manifold whihc should be here tomorrow and need to find an inlet manifold.
Thats the exact turbo i've got for my 1.9, looks perfect, but when started up on the car there was an oil leak from it and lots of smoke, so back off it came. Still haven't got the rebuild kit for it yet. Did only cost me 20 though
Ps see there is 2 feeds to the actuator, apparently the one with no hose to it on your photo is left either as it is or capped off
What sort of power/torque are you looking at once you've completed the conversion? My Dad keeps bleating on about turboing the red T4, cos its fitted with the 5-cylinder Audi petrol engine. Can't see the point of doing that tbh!
looking at more Torque than power to tow with and also when i loose speed on the motorway at present it takes ages to get back uptp speed. i will be happy with 100BHP and arround 170LB/FT. But knowing me i'll probably push it to 120BHP with LPG Injection to increase the fuelling on the Diesel engine. The a company i know in York who do LPG Conversions on Diesels. Need to get the MK1 Trigger wheel sorted over Christmas before the Turbo is started.
Turbo Manifold has arrived its off Volvo V70 But as you can see its a VW Part - 074 253 033K (Same part no as 2.5TDI Item apart from B ref ) On the V70 Volvo the Turbo is mounted this way with exhaust point to the rear of the car with the engine mounted longitudinally.(T4 Transverse) i can mount it this was but will have to alter the pipework. But if i mount it in the same direction as the standard T4 it requires rotating 180deg so a spacer will be needed to space the Turbo off the Manifold 10mm. ACV Inlet Manifold sourced too.
Well now i have the inlet manifold i've being shopping for the ancilliaries. Oil Feed for Turbo - from a Passat (10) 60mm - 51mm Elbow (10) for the Manifold, i will use the existing 60mm flange off the 2.4D Inlet like this one and then the elbow reducer for the boost pipes. 51mm Elbows for the Turbo boost pipes Black ordered (5 ea) 60mm & 51mm pipe clips (.150 ea) 51mm x 600mm alloy boost pipe (15) No intercooler yet , i will run without once it's running until i need to up the boost. i need the dipstick oil adaptor and the oil return pipe. also i'll call at GSF and get the gasket set tomorrow.
ACV 2.5TDI Inlet Manifold arrived from Germany in two days, excellent delivery that . As you can see the effects of the EGR Valve on the inlets with get covered in 10mm of Oily Soot. New Inlet manifold gaskets & Exhaust also EGR Blanks Plates for the exhaust manifold EGR Blank plate fitted
Finally got a couple of shots of the New Octavia VRS, and if i don't get the MK1 running soon i'll be sprinting the VRS at York . Also put the bull bar back on the T4 for the winter
The dirtiest job in the world now, cleaning the intake manifold it must have been off a 200k motor it was full of Oily Soot. This is why you need an EGR Blank plate fitting, I'll be fitting one on the Octavia VRS Next week. After the clean with petrol, saopy water and jet wash. The intake will be connected using the 61mm to 50mm silicone reducer and 50mm Alloy 90 bend. Also the Turbo Oil Feed has arrived, may have to modify it slightly.
All the parts are coming together now. The boost pipes will be linked with a straight 300mm 51mm section, but once i fit an intercooler the Turbo outlet 90 will go straight to the LT Intercooler that will be fitted. just the Oil lines now and all will be complete ready for installation
Well nearly there the kit is almost complete just the dipstick oil return flange to sort. Volvo V70 Exhaust downpipe 15 from a very good Volvo Breaker on e-bay, has flexi joint and is 2 1/2" diameter. nice bit of kit Cone filter will be used due to compressor position and Oil lines from a VW Passat & LT35 Should be ready to install at the weekend T:
Nice job. Looks like this turbo will be finished. For peace of mind. I would think about getting turbo checked over as you won't want to take it off again if you find out its blowing smoke. Happened to me.
why have you let the compressor outlet pointing down the looped round with a 180degree pipe? why not just "clock" the turbo housing and swing the compressor housing around so it's pointing up? keeps your pipework shorter.
