**** the New Ford Focus Rs, at the end of the day its a FORD :thumbd:
Its all about the new MK6 GOLF GTi  Its lovely!!!

Its got a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, reportedly generating 211 hp thanks to the addition of a new variable valve-lift system. 10bhp more than the Mk5 GTI
It'll hit 62mph in 7 seconds and a top speed of 150mph

This Golf has a prominent dual exhaust system, something new to the
GTI lineup and youv'e got to admit it looks well nice in the pics below
Much better than the new Focus!!!

What do you think guys???

Are you trying to sell it to us?
This is a VW forum mate, primarily a golf GTI forum. as such, im pretty sure everyone has heard of/seen/knows every detail about the mk6 gti. did you think you were informing us of some new news?

    Indeed, very nice car though.

Na not really mate. I thought as its a "GTi forum", i'd try and get everyones attention off the new Ford Focus RS everyones talking about in the other thread, and get them talking about a car we should be talking about. Its probably bcoz I hate Fords, with a passion. [:x] (except the Mk1's of course  ).

I think it does look better than the mk5 tbh. The front looks aggresive and i like the look of the R32 style exhausts

I think i'd have it in that nice blue colour above

Every bit as underwhelming as I had expected. The MK2 16v would do 0-60 in a similar time, 20 years later and such tremendous progress...

Yea i agree, thats true mate. It could do with a better engine and a quicker 0-60 time!!!
But ive got to say, its the looks of the new MK6 which does it for me... .
The front looks more aggressive than the MK5, and the exhaust suits it too.

Look up at the top of the page, it says "General Vehicle Related Chat" = Non-VW

People are taking about the Focus RS because it's been a long time coming, and according to the reports is a very special Front-wheel drive car with (as standard) 300bhp and over 400nm of torque which defies all logic as to what a front wheel drive car should be able to do given it's power.

Well yea, but I want a GTI to go fast, not be a comfortable safety bubble. They need to sort their priorities out

The ultimate golf is still the Mk4 R32 in my book. That is very nice though, and I would love one.

I thought the standard quoted figures for the mk5 gti was under 7 seconds? I know some mags timed standard mk5 gti's at 6.5 seconds ish didn't they?

Agreed the paper figures don't look great - but you try keeping up with one in a mk2 16v. front looks more aggressive than mk5, but side looks a bit taller and less sporty to me?

wish they would make a cup/rs/sprint what ever they want to call it, but a stripped version for the hardcores, were not all estate agents and fleet buyers (well I am but hey [:$] )

Saw a standard new golf today for the first time... have to say.. i find the new style totally underwhelming and pretty conservative

I think VW are starting to lag behind in "new age" car design. The Focus RS looks fantastic, as does the new renault sport megane

And i was hoping the performance figures from the new GTI would be better than the current one...

IF the new R20T comes along and does a sub 6 second 0-60 like the current S3 then i don't see why they can't make the GTI faster as it wouldn;t be hard for them to achieve

At the end of the day though, the GTi is what everyone will want to buy though, no matter what it looks like

I agree that it is more of a subtle car than say a focus rs ,but it's still a cracking looking car and will probably be looked back on in years to come and still look good. I think the megane will date quicker as french cars always do, I wouldn't say no to one and I bet it'll be a flyer on the open road!
