did you look at the scirocco.org link I put up? its got lots of pics theres a nice pic of a mk1 interior here: http://website.lineone.net/~dr.dub/mk1int.htm its a bit big to post up here and I'd have to say no to 16 valving simply on rarity factor, but its up to you obviously
In all fairness I think you may well have another mk1 scirocco owner soon!!! If I did 16v it, i could always keep the 1.6 engine in the mk1!! I'm getting all excited now!
Check everywhere for rust and filler. They suffer far more than mk1 Golfs, and panels are generally expensive or unattainable.
That is gorgeous. I've heard that they are quicker and handle better than a Golf. I remember reading years ago that a lot of road testers thought that they were the best handling fwd car, for years, until the Corrado (sp) took over. But as mentioned above, rust is a big issue and complete lack of replacement panels.
This link is to an article I scanned in recently, January 1980 Autosport magazine review of a GLi which is effectively the same (albeit marginally lighter due to no leather). http://www.roccomafia.co.uk/Articles/Autosport/pages/GLI.htm FYI, Mk1 Scirocco GLi = 800kg. Mk1 Golf GTI = 860kg. Also, the drag coeffient of the Scirocco was lower.
The scirocco at the very top of this topic is the brown then right? I definitly don't want that colour!!
your one isn't the same colour as the very first one in the top of this topic is it?? the one that went on eBay?? The blue and red are nice colours mind!!
yeah i definitly didn't like that one on eBay. i wasn't sure on the colour of your one mind, got any more pics?? side view etc. and whats going on with the odd colour panel? rust?
Battleship grey Cult Society G60, PVW Jan or Feb 04 - seeing that got me back into mk1s after a 10 year break.
mr. brown as I wont wanna do an engine conversion as such, lack of time and money would a 2.0 bottom end drop straight onto the 1.6 head? As I think that should help it so see off/keep up with most cars
