Going to be fitting a roll cage 6 point bolt in to my mk2 rocco.Have spoke to a mate who had one fitted in his car and he said steer well clear ! Said petrol consumption will be poo and depending on how much it weighs i will lose performance.Have just spent out on loads of go faster bits so don`t want to lose on performance.I think that they look good and after crashing my mk1 and seeing how bad the car was afterwards i think they are needed. It will also strengthen the chassis so shouldnt need to fit a lower strutt brace is this true ?

My Safety Devices rear cage weighs 16kg which isn't a major amount. Believe the front section weighs slightly more.

Your mate needs battering around the head.

They stiffen the chasis up loads, and the miniscule weight disadvantage is eclipse by the increased corner speed you can carry.

And they hardly weigh anything really. Put a cage in and take out your rear seats and you have almost kep things the same weight.

And my 183 bhp valver still does 32mpg average with one in ;)

i thought that insurance companies didn't like roll cages that were welding in place?

bolted in, they can be classed as an accessory or something.

or is that a load of boll*x?

the W14 cage is a pain when it comes to fitting the front triangulation points, it even needs part of the heater box to be cut out so it goes round the cage.

Hum that looks a bit more complex than mine mate .Rear cage is 1 piece with welded diag then two front arms and a x member above screen.going to get door bars at 32+vat each. Was told would have to cut some of the dash to get it to fit but only a bit near the heater vents.Think that i will be welding it in place can`t be ars#d to mess about with bolts reinforcing plates etc.as i don`t intend on selling her for a long time !
