Can't live with the turbo looking like that. Every time I walk in the garage it catches my eye. Oh well, back to the drawing board. Is there another front housing I can use on the k04-23? My other option is to cut & shorten the outlet.

    Cheers John

What's the story with the 3 door? I've owned a few, one of them that competed in the Dutch super car challenge

I think cutting the outlet is going to be the only answer. I wish my work would hurry up & get a tig in. Will need to find someone local to do it.

The 3 door, I've had since I was 19. So 18 years now. When I got it, it was a Cossie rep with 2.9 twin turbo technics kit.

Now fitted with a tundersaloon kit, running a stage 3 YB & 4wd. This is the track car the RX8 has to replace.

I'm in Glasgow. Think I've got someone sorted to weld it for me. Just need to sort the position I want it in over the weekend.

You need to `clock` the Turbo. Basically, rotate the housing so the outlet points to the side. You`ll need to modify the actuator mount etc, but surely you can make it fit better than it does at the moment

See this 30 second paint.net for what I mean lol

Think it will still need the 90 as chassis rail in the way by looks of things!

Nice work by the way Nige :o

Even rotated with the outlet at its current length, it still doesn't fit. Chassis leg & steering column are in the way.

Well turbo outlet cut & away to get welded. So I thought I'd move on with another job.

Need some connections from the rx8 engine loom to power the dash, ABS & steering. Also the revers light & neutral switch wiring is in here. Info on this is not as readily available, like the VW stuff.

Also have the starter & charging loom to sort to work with the rx8 starter & VW alternator. Then get it all in the bay along with the VW loom & looking neat. [:s]

Both looms in & wired. Car now starts from the rx8 key, dash working. Need to tidy it all up to look nice now. Well chuffed.

Still lots to do intake still to finish, accelerator pedal to modify, fuel system to finish. But a least there is a bit of progress.

Adapter made to run the rx8 coolant temp sensor. For the dash & to run the cooling fans.

Passat pedal modified to fit the pedal exactly in the same place as the RX8 one. Also made a new plate to mount the rx8 pedal plate, so it looks the same as the rest.

I have the RX8 ECU running the dash, steering & ABS. The VAG ECU running the engine. You only need the trigger wheel & sensor to power up the dash, steering & ABS. But I've used the coolant & oil one too.

I am intrigued as well. We had another chap fitting a 20vT in an old RWD classic and pointed him to this thread.
