Oh yes - I remember those well, I must still have a load of those 3D rave demo type things on floppy in the loft. I must dig all this stuff out at some point and see if it still works. They were ace, really ahead of their time as you say.

Sounds like your Amiga kit was far more advanced than mine RJ. I just had the 500+, an external floppy drive for copying games and a Star LC200 colour dot matrix printer as I recall

Ah - not seen an Amiga HDD in a while, I could never afford one and just lusted after that kind of kit. I remember Monkey Island and it's massive disk swapping requirements well. There was also an Indiana Jones game that was on loads of disks too as I recall. Do you remember 'Another World'? That was an excellent game, loved that.

There's a chap who comes into my work now and again as a consultant who was heavily into all this kind of early computing back in the day. I was chatting to him the other day about Amiga's etc. and I'm sure he said that him and a friend worked on the coding for the Action Replay cartridge! :p

I never actually played Another World, but ploughed a fair few hours (more like years!) into its sort-of-sequel Flashback - a game which still stands up now IMO.

Indiana Jones game was great too, as were all the Lucasarts/SCUMM adventure games. I was lucky enough to have an external floppy drive with an external floppy passthrough port on it too, so had 3 floppy drives. Made it much easier :)

ha yeah you could say that but it was also a massive case full of amiga bodgery. was a nightmare really sometimes it wouldnt boot and you would have to dig thru the thing to figure out what had come loose! should really have started with an A4000 but oh well.

flashback was awesome, one of the few games I completed. got close with prince of persia too. i built mine to play the later games like alien breed 3d 1 & 2, plus doom and quake! i still go back and play AB3D 1/2 now & again they're awesome games.

dungeon master still one of my all time favs as well, hired guns, DM2 etc. I could go on all day

Never knew anyone who had the larger Amiga units, they did A2000, 3000 and 4000 didnt they? I rememebr trying to convince my IT dept in schoold to ditch their 186 and 286s and get a suite of Amigas as the PCs were so cr*p compared to my humble Amiga at home, like night and day.

Majority of my time was spent playing Sensible Soccer, Elite, Cannon Fodder, Skidmarks, too many to mention but also would spend hours on quality apps like Deluxe Paint 4, VistaPro, Imagine and Octamed.

yeah i thnk there was a 1000 and a 3500 iirc as well, but i didnt pay too much attention to those really. would have liked a go on a CDTV and a CD32 though!

I made and rendered my own car for skidmarks in imagine, took hours to render all the tiny little pictures needed. well i say car, it was a wipeout spaceship thing i made using the imagine tutorials from one of the amiga mags

hmm. i still have all the data off my amiga in my winuae folder, i wonder if its in there somewhere? i already found all my dads old porn

Woefully low numbers? [:D] Its the biggest selling single make manufactuered smartphone in existence. Should have pre-ordered! ;)

Loving mine so far. Siri is immensely helpful, even if i do look like a nob using it. I dont care, saves time. Up until a couple of days ago, i didnt realise you could just put the phone up to your ear to initiate siri. I was always holding the home button.

Ditto, can't believe the difference. TomTom is also much more accurate.

Siri has transformed the way I set reminders. It's so easy when driving just to add a reminder. I'm always remembering stuff to do when I'm driving, and now I actually get to do it!

    OMG, it's a bl**dy phone.

If people get any more exited by it there'll be a iWa*k app launched accompanied by an iWipe for cleaning the screen afterwards.

    What's inaccurate about Tom Tom?

See, for this, I've always found the iPen and iDiary v1.0 perfectly up to the job :p

They lack the crispness of a snare drum?

Probably why smoke signals superceded them as a form of communication, has Apple been around in those days obviously the iSmoke would be faster and have a better user interface, I suspect that the little puffs of smoke generated by iWood would have lasted longer and had a higher resale value too:thumbup:
