Depends on tyres aswell - some tyres lend themselves to stretching a lot easier than others. Speak to Styledynamix as they'll tell you which tyres are better for this..

jj vdub: the tyres on my ronals are 195/50 so theyre larger than your tyres, hence why they rub!

jeff: theres no cut in my sidewall.[:s] plus
they go on for shows, hence being kept in my bedroom, how many people
do you see at shows doing 100mph around the show and shine area:lol:

I got 195/45's over an 8"er. looks sweet, probably a little too stretched to be practical, but who the f**k wants practicality?!

I dont like the way the wheels not protected with the stretch tyres, to easy to trash those expensive rims.

Yea i know what you mean, doesnt look like damage to me though..

Just had a good look at my arches, would definately rub If I try to put anything larger on, guess Im gonna have to fork out for some adjustable susspension at the same time as the wheels and have the arches rolled.......if only i was minted...... oh well we can dreammm

Well i can see at least 2 if not 3 incorrect pieces of information on this page.

But i'll just keep quiet and you can all be completely misinformed and incorrect as you obviously have no real inclination to learn anything  :)

Hey recardo, 947. both your cars look pretty sweet with the g60 arches and wheels filling them up,

what exactly is your set up from standard
    1.Suspension
    2.drop
    3.arches (any roll work)
    4.offset
    5.wheels
    6.tyres

    thanks,
    JJ

Ok, first thing, your reluctance to roll/trim the arch's will seriously have an adverse effect on your choices.

If you do nothing you can fit at most a 7x15 with a 195/50 tyre on ET 35.

That wont scrub, but it will look terible with the G60 arch trims. :)

If you get the arch's rolled (rear)/trimmed (front) you can run up to an 8x15 ET 15 195/50 or 45 15, with your 60mm drop easily :)

One thing to note is the actual drop, it may or not be 60mm, these things are far from exact, especially if its a cheaper kit. So all this is still not 100% guaranteed. :)

    Anything else?

Normally I agree with young Andy, but in this case

    Euro-look stretched tyres :thumbd:

    1. Look shite IMO

    2. Bad for performance

    3. Unsafe

    1. Some would disagree, i do, mine dont look too stretched, i like them

    2. Yes, agree, but i know that, and you can feel it, its the price you pay for the look (same for the drop too ;)

    3. UM, wouldnt say so myself, aslong as you keep the tyre pressures checked and dont push them too hard :)

    :)

There's some pretty scary stuff here!

I was considering a lower ride height but3 things stopped me:

    1. The car's mint and completely original so it would be sacrilege to modify it;

    2. The handling balance out-of-the-box on 185/60R14 Pirelli P6000s is on the driftable side of safe and predictable, so high average speeds can be maintained (I don't speed, but I do like to average 59mph in a 60mph limit when conditions and traffic allow) - if it ain't broke, don't fix it.If I was to besuper-critical, I would like to dial-out some of the understeer, but I think that's down to the tyres - I'll research a grippier compound when the P6000s are worn down to the wear indicators.

    3. The roads around here (Cheshire) are generally in awful condition, littered with pot-holes, ungraded junctions, worn-out smooth tarmac and incorrect cambers. We also have a high quota of vocal NIMBYs and hence traffic calming is rife. The suspension occasionally bottoms-out now (despite being replaced with stock OE parts a few months ago); any degree of lowering and I'd be waving goodbye to the lower wishbone mounts, if not the sump, the exhaust and thechin spoiler.

Mk2s look great when slammed and on deep-dish BBS rims, but around here it's just not practical if you still want to be able to make decent progress!

I suppose I could always buy a 1.3 Ryder and slam that...
