good tip.....i've heard people mention that its best to use a late ABF as the early ones have clearance issues.

What sort of year onwards are we talking about?

What car is it going into?
    MK2 16v
    mk2 8v?

The clearance issue is the inlet manifold if using the entire MK3 injection system

You have to swap one of the rear mounts thats bolted to the engine for the mk2. The it will sit perfectly in the mk2.

use the brackets off the 8v engine and mk2 mounts

late spec post 96 for the inlet mani if it's from a mk3 but if it's a seat engine then they should fit asthey are mostly mk2

    So far then we've got

    Golf mk2 8v (90' onwards)
    Standard Mk2 mounts and brackets
    ABF post 96'
    Pre 96' ECU

Standard Mk2 16v radiator ok to use?
Am i right in thinking ABF loom will swap ok with post 90' mk2's

hmm not sure. I assumed it'd need some sort of 16v radiator. No idea though. I think i got that from hearing people taking about the mk2 16v one in ABF conversions.....not sure if that was into a mk2 16v though if you see what i mean

Get a 90 spec gti, and it will be fine. There are people to help with the wiring side of things as the MK3 loom has an integrated headlamp loom with the engine one. Just needs a bit of tweaking. My ABF sw*p into a MK2 GTi 8v took 2 days, and that included the removal of the engine along with the loom from the donor car

the ABF may well shag the 8v box fairly quickly so budget for a hotgolf box rebuild too
