heres how the mini one works (sorry no cad on works laptop paint will have to do...). black = normal cage red = harness bar blue = transmission tunnel I am tempted to ask for the extra brace as I know from seat belt anchorage testing that the mounts get given a hell of a stick in a crash and ll that will be holding the bar in place will be the welds to the rear 45deg stays and the X... should be enough but then again I would prefer belt and braces... also ask for the U guides for the harnesses if he will do them as these stop the harnesses wondering side to side
Bugger, So why are they called harness bars if they dont work Im going to leave it as it is now, Im having the 2 little harness bars and also one in the middle to join it up with no bracing. If there are any problems i will just cut them out and think of another way to do it. It will be fine for track days
the second pic is not right but it was only to show how the harness straps can be attached to the bar rather than looped over it and then down to the rear seat belt mounts on the car body shell. I think I need to speak to Dave in person about what I want, as I plan on having mine done over winter (just incase there is a end of season cgti track day)
This is what you need to avoid whilst ensuring that the belt slopes slightly down to the bar ... depending on your assessment of post 2 here ... http://www.clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=191416 I try to follow the belt manufacturer`s advice.
have just had the tornado guys fit me a cage to my corrado, they were very fast and the cage is excellent and dave is extremelly helpful when trying to get round some of the problems we came across. would highly recommend them!! pictures to follow!!
Got my cage today!....Well, Part of it I got part 1 of 3...Just the door bars. Spoke to Dave who tracked it for me and they couldnt fit it in the lorry yesterday to come to my delivery depot, So they thought they would just send the one bit Great use that is! Fingers crossed for Monday! I know my local driver quite well and when he turned up he said "Your not going to be happy"
This might be a problem now. It arrived last week, All 3 parts at last! Tried to get the front in to see how much i need to cut the dash. Couldnt get it in! Only spent 5 mins on it but its not going through the boot. Must have to get it through the door somehow!
there not easy mat, also once in it was like a spiders web of ratchet straps to put it all in the right place, not a job im keen to do again anytime soon!
can anyone confirm if i would need to remove the dash if they fit one of these to my MK2? I need to take it out anyway, to remove the sound deadening I cannot reach.
after todays trackday the car has proved to be rather quick! so a cage will be going in very soon! not worth the risk so fingers crossed there will be a msa spec one in there before the new year
