    Feck knows whats going on, and why no one has come up against/highlighted this problem before [:s]:lol:

    Mine is a Seat engine, and has the shaped inlet pipe to clear the reservoir. The fit is pretty much as tight as i'd like with the passat mount fitted (touching the reservoir), the Golf mount would make that tighter.

    With both the Passat and Golf Engine mounts, the engine hangs at the same height, ie the crank/PS pulley is at the same height in the engine bay, just a few mm below the chassis leg. The passat mount pushes the engine forward and due to the shape of the chassis leg when you go to fit the Golf mount you pull the engine back that few extra mm which actually makes the problem worse.

    Lift the gearbox mount about 20mm with the spacers and the problem disappears, as the pulley is dropped below the chassis leg.

    Subframe is standard MK2 GTI,
    Rubber Mounts - Engine Golf G60, Gearbox 1.3, Front Hydro 16v/G60
    Brackets - Engine Passat 2.0 2E, Gearbox standard 02A, Front Standard 02A

    maybe the g60 mount is taller then! someone told me they were the same but perhaps they were talking rubbish. makes sence really, if they were same sizes then im sure vw would have most likely superseeded the old 1.3 mount with the g60 one

    I have an OEM 02A mount in my VR6 conversion subframe, i'll unpack it from the back of the shed and measure it and see if there is any difference.

    Following on from my last post, I came across a few more hurdles today in finishing my conversion:

    The rear inlet manifold support brackets are now too short by about 10mm, I will be making new longer ones when I get back to work Tuesday, easier for me than altering the existing ones, but for now I've left them off.[edit- was obvioulsy fatigued when trying yesterday, got them to fit today!]

    Rad hoses I ended up cutting down the originals, but swapped top for bottom. It did the job albeit not perfectly, however when finished and run up to temp the rad split [:^(] Luckily an '86 8v mk2 GTI my mate was breaking came up trumps and the whole rad, fan and hoses from it fitted almost perfectly, again with some trimming of the bottom hose :clap: I even went a bit posh and used the 8v Rad loom meaning it now has a 2 speed fan as well as the much larger rad. [:*:]

    Just got it home after a 33mile test drive and first impressions have exceeded expectations by a long way!!! :o It's now an absolute rocketship! Far more torque than I bargained for, it will pull steep hills in 5th at very low speeds while still retaining that high rpm surge. I haven't messed with the metering head CO settings either, so maybe more to come?

    I'm happy! All thanks to this thread after reading it first last year. :)

    Somewhere along the way I seem to have cured my longstanding cold start problems too, It's on the button now! Happy days.

    TCI:
    1 - red/black or green -> coil pin 1
    2 - brown - earth to battery
    4 - black -> coil pin 15
    6 - to mk3 coil green/red wire

    any other wires on TCI plug left over -> bin

    coil:
    1 - red/black - rev counter feed to fusebox, G1/12 if CE2, D/26 if CE1
    1 - red/black or green -> tci pin 1
    15 - black - ign live feed from fusebox, G1/4 if CE2, D/23 if CE1
    15 - black -> coil pin 4

    Easy!

    stupidly,
    I haven't connected the feed to the injectors to the fusebox (connector Z1)
    everything OK now, fired right up, not bad for a motor that haven't run for 2 years now

    I've got no mfa working in my mk2, it was previously a 1.6 gl with no mfa, clocks are from a late mk2 16v and the car is ce2.

    I used an abf and complete loom from a seat ibiza gti.

    Any idea on what I'm doing wrong, the digital clock is working but no mfa?

    you need to add the mfa wiring between the stalk and the fusebox if you haven't already, the clocks will still cycle thru the mfa settings even if te engine wiring isnt there so the issue is dash, stalks or wiring between them

    Spot on RJ, I thought I had the wiring sorted but I wasn't after fitting the correct loom for the clocks after all, thanks again!

    ABF into a mark1 with original k-jet. Can a MK1 distributor be used , if so how?

    So I'm just looking at options for when/if my 8 valve goes. How hard or how much work would it be to put an ABF in my k-jet 8 valve? I'm assuming I'll need the engine loom, ECU, complete ABF and from what I read I can use my current gearbox. I also imagine clocks that read upto 8k revs?

    Lee,
    Standard ABF with digifant revs up to 6800 & even without that rev limit, there wouldn't be much point, so clocks up to 7000 will be fine.

    Cheers for that Ben:thumbup: I just want to get my head around how much work I would be in for.
