cause it has all the adapters, software, instructions...everything for someone who doesn't fully understand computer stuff, like me!
mm you'd be better off buying the lead with the group buy & gettting the software seperately, you're probably under-estimating your abilities. I dont think the fact that it would all arrive in a box together would be worth the extra it would cost you.
"To make full use of VAG-COM, you will need a service manual containing the VAG-1551 Scan-Tool procedures for your car." Is there any online source for the scan-tool procedures for a selection of cars?
So this lead means you can plug your car into your home PC so it can tell you whats wrong with it/re-set service light/tune it? or is that just me being stupid? So you plug your service port in and register with vag.com? What benefits does this have? Sorry if I sound clueless, I just havent got a clue what this lead does. Would I find getting this beneficial for my car? Its got an expensive engine (VR6) so keeping tabs on how its doing would be useful. WHere do you get the PC software from? o
you download the software from ross-tech.com the software then allows you to find out whats wrong/right with your car by reading the diagnostic codes. If you register the software ($$$) then you can use it to do a lot more.
Sorted. I've placed my order for the group buy With my Audi for example, it is used for loads of things extra to checking fault codes. You can change alarm features, central locking stuff, radio stuff, install new remote keys, enable cruise control, and generally setup stuff. You can even do power runs and get the max BHP and torque for the car!......loadsa fun. I have all the proceedures already for my car.
i would also need to buy a lap top!!! or have a 30 foot lead to get to this computer!!! anyone know where to get cheap laptops? (dunno why i'm asking cause i can't afford one!! but the girlie needs one for uni...plan!)
Ordered and paid for my cable too, should be here tomorrow. Just need a lap top now, I'll be looking on eBay. Any idea of the minimum spec needed for XP?
Ok I'm pretty new to this but when you get the error codes up using the software do you need a factory maintenance manual in order to find out what the code means? Is there any source of a translation of codes -> real world meanings available for multiple VAG cars?
doesnt it tell you what the fault is? or is it just codes. alot of faults are related to a poor battery performance, nothing to worry about..
YAY!! got my lead through this morning, so thanks to 1990 for arranging the group buy. Phat, check here for XP minimum spec. CLICK
