and as you happen to have the head off could you measure the hole in the back of the head that lets the coolant into the manifold, as i need to make that hole in the back of my gti head it would usefull to know the size and depth of the hole.
    cheers

Heres a pic so you can get an idea for it :-

The small hole you see on the head is 0.8mm , the depth is around 610mm, the hole where the seal sits into on the manifold measures 220mm.

    Hope it helps.

With regard to drilling the gti head for this water outlet. What head are we talking about?
Some k jet heads have a stub in this position that links the injector bosses so in event of a o ring failure the car does not run excessively weak on the affected cylinder. It may not be advisable to drill it without checking you will not hit a drilling.

I think the PB digi one is ok to drill, but I will have a look at a head tomorrow and check.
It is not imperative that the inlet manifold has a coolant flow through it. You can just fit it as is and blank of the hose from the metal coolant pipe that would connect to the outlet from the inlet manifold.
NB. Do not mix up this inlet manifold coolant outlet and the servo take off from no 4 port runner!

Had a look at a digi head today. I removed one of the injector bosses in it and checked there was no drilling like in some of the kjet heads.
It did not have this drilling so it would be ok to drill the water way for the carb inlet manifold on my head.
It may be an idea to whip out an injector boss next to where the hole is meant to be on your head ,to double check it is the same.

am confused what does the injector boss have to do with drilling a hole in the head, what was you looking for by removing said boss?

You cannot drill some k jet heads for the coolant outlet as this drilling that links all four of the injector bosses passes through where you would be drilling the hole for the coolant outlet.

If you can post up the casting numbers on the front of the head above the spark plugs that will help to confirm what you have.
A pic of the back of the head at the injectors and where the coolant passage would be will confirm too, if you do pics that is.
