i'm on the lookout for one of these, wanting to optimise my fuelling (or at least make sure nothing melts) and i'd always rather buy my own gear than pay the money to a garage.

looking at the tech edge 2j1 or the innovate lc1 as budget jobbies, or maybe innovate lm1 if it's worth it for the extra features (would be handy when working on cars in the future).

has anyone got any opinions/experiences of these products or other ones out there?
    cheers, olly

a bit more expensive but sounds more useful than the lc1 long term. have you found it fairly straightforward to use?

i use the VEMS system that uses a Bosch LSU4 sensor, very easy install and nice easy readable guage.

the egt function is quite interesting, but it seems a little pricy compared to the innovate lc1. nice gauge tho.

    what's the difference between a 4 and a 5 wire sensor?

just had a look, i think you're right mike. lm2 has more features which i don't really need right now but could be handy in the future. i'm liking the exhaust clamp though, would make it really simple clamp it on and go for a drive. datalogs onto sd card just pop it into the laptop when i get home. there's a bloke in latvia selling them on ebay for US prices (with free delivery), 280 quid all in sounds ok. or is there anything dodgy about buying from latvia i should know about?

I have the LC1 with G3 gauge.. It is very useful to see how your fueling is under all conditions. Got mine 20 cheaper delivered from the U.S. Can be useful when running datalogs when tuning also.

I previously had a LC-1 and that in my mind is plenty. You could make one of those just as 'mobile' if you wanted to do multiple cars etc.

I got my LM-2 in the states last year, I was just about to pay the $400 and thought I'd ask for a discount, he said he'd do it for $300 for cash!!! Cracking deal!!

BTW the LM-2 is very light and the buttons have a cheap feeling click about them. Looks great, but feels fragile / cheap in reality!

really? i'm not interested if the quality's not up to par, doesn't sound too good if it doesn't feel solid.

The LC-1 is a nice unit, I was just a bit dissapointed with the qual of the LM-2.

just found the vems for 225 pounds, that doesn't seem too bad at all. so the controller is part of the gauge itself?

    found this guy in latvia

    http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/xenonlv__W0QQ_armrsZ1

he does the lc1 without gauge for 140, with gauge for 160quid, the aem gauge with built-in controller for 155, and the basic lm2 kit for 195 notes, all with free shipping

then there's the vems for 225 plus shipping from these guys

    http://www.doyouneedabrain.co.uk/wbgauge.htm

given that the laptop can be used for tuning i don't think there's any need to go for the lm2, so it's down to the aem or lc1. the opinion on here is that they're both fairly good for the money.
