Well finally the JE Pistons and ARP Studs have arrived. JE 83.5MM Pistons 10.5 : 1 Comp JE Pistons, Integrated Enegineering H - Beam and JE Pro Seal Ring Set. ARP Main Cap Studs ARP Head Studs ARP Crank Studs Wish i wasn't going on Holiday Tomorrow now! would have had it all assembled by next week otherwise.
220BHP The Cams are Paul Bargate's Old ones 11.2mm lift Duration TBC (Made by Tony Lerman GER from blanks) From his 2.0L 16v GMS Engine that pushed out 215 BHP on the 45mm Weber Alpha set up & Webcom Management and that was with a Mangoletsi inlet manifold. So with the Badger5 45MM DTH Bodies, 250cc Injectors and my Microsquirt Management i think 220BHP is a realistic figure Anything over 200 BHP and i will be very happy and arround 170 LB/FT Torque Then later on once run in and i'm happy will be upgrading to the DTA Management & CAT Cams & Solid lifters, with even and extra row of injectors.
I was looking at the compression ratio, wondering if it's enough. Is the ratio comparable with Paul's spec at 215bhp?
He had Standard compression on the 9A 10 : 1 the bottom end was totally standard just a flow head and these cams. My ABF will be 11.5 : 1 with the Machined KR Head Thats why i went for stand comp piston's high compression ones would have been too high unless i ran on Race Fuel.
10:1 and 215bhp leaves me lost (re: Paul's motor). GVK ran OE compression on moderate ?Newman? cams and was under 200, before it got sick. Mine should be running about 12:1 and is mapped for 97 RON. 11.5:1 sounds like a healthy compromise though.
GVK didn't have 45 TB's fitted thou did he ? We don't know the exact spec on the cams but that was the figures and he was running 12.7 sec NASP 1/4 with that engine until it snapped a rod last year! i only ever use 99 RON with Octane aditive and so does Bargate.
Are the wrist pins offset on those JEs or are you having the crown machined the 1.35mm? 10.5:1 seems way low given (I'm guessing here) that you'll be running lumpy cams - The dynamic compression will surely be far too low (read as rotten) surely for NA?
Who's running 10.5 : 1 ? Compression will 11.5 : 1 remember its a KR Head on a ABF Block The were in Bargates 9A 10 : 1 comp old NASP and was an excellent engine Also running Nitrous too so the compression will be spot on.
