steve i would like to find some silly offset 15" wheels for my oct trip then think about making up some custom parts in 2009 so that i can use standard wheels later.

just need to know who has done what at the moment.

its catch 22 i think, the wheels you want would be pricey and if you and to change to a more standard wheel later maybe a waste of time and/or money?

9x16 Azev A with ET10 a lot cheaper than you would think. 136 each the car above uses these wheels with a 15mm spacer

I dont know how Audi Sport quattro arches compare to your berg cup arches but they are a fair old size

your a star mate, they work out cheap for a full set too  .

i suppose the hardest part would be working out the correct ET to have made but the end result should be a perfect balance.

Thanks for all the other comments people [:D]

16's are WAY too big for a Mk1

was hoping for 15" with an offset that will fit my 285mm TSR brakes

not sure what width but i need the outer edge out further to fill the arch....if that makes sense?

was hoping that someone that already had the kit fitted here could workout how much more arch they had & the offset they used to get a rough idea.

will have to find out how long they take to make the wheels as i might only have the Berg stuff fitted & have 3 weeks till i leave on my Euro trip in early Oct.

    Sizes start at 7 x 15 up to 10 x 18

16s were on the VW Cup car I have... so not a no-no.

why would you run a 16 on such a small / light car ? all because you can, doesn't mean you should

15's are the way to go on a Mk1 - excellent tyre choice in 15" whereas starts getting restrictive on 16"" - probably 14's would be even better but again probably restricted tyre choice

As it arrived like that I can only surmise, but a mix of tyre width, brake size, optimal tyre choice from within a ?restricted? control range. Could be a number of reasons, but it obviously worked.

isnt the roling radius of a 15 very close to a low profile 16;) therefore no real disadvantage bar limited tyres choice, its a juggling act between width, grip, brake size tbh

availability of tyres would sway this I guess depending on how wide the owner wanted to go and for what purpose... slick? treaded?

that's why i would prefer a more standard width over wider....7" cheapest? but better offset, time will tell.

total guess here but, is there any stuff on the caddy forum about mk2 subframes on mk1s? with the cost of wheels tyres etc, using some plus axle stuff may be the cheapest option.

for general all round use on a Mk1 - 7x15 all the way

berg cup Mk1's are on 13s......hillclimbers though so need need for such large brakes although you can fit a 280 4 potter inside a 13" if you run enough offset - plenty caterfields do
