Superb work, like everyone else, I'm really looking forward to seeing it finished.

But how come you ditched the wipers? I know you don't get the rain like we do over here, but you must get some, or dust settling..... Or will you just be taking it out to the occasional show rather than a daily driver?

Don't you have anything over there like our MOT that it has to pass? And would it, sans wipers?

    (Not a criticism, just curious)

Yeah it has to be road worthied, but they don't look to carefully  I may end up having to run the wipers but the car is going to be strictly dry use only as it's going to be totally stripped of underseal etc :p

I sold the SEAT in my sig and have a Mk3 2.0 8v as daily runabout now [:$]

Heh, should've looked for a MK3 TDi man, lots more fun!

It wouldn't pass roadworthy in any state without wipers, cars that
quite obviously wouldn't be driven in the rain (like a 55 chev powered
by A RR Merlin motor) even had to have tyres that wouldn't aquaplane
    and windscreen wipers.

Finally another update. Been busy doing all the 'fun' jobs like driving around getting parts, removing fuel tanks and losing skin from knuckles [xx(]

The engine - from a 1999 SEAT Cupra 16v - is about done. I've stripped it, painted it, replaced most of the gaskets, lackered the rocker cover and inlet manifold, now I just need to get a gasket set to bolt the tranny back up to the block as I've lost the original ones [:x]

I wheeled it out of the garage on the crane to get some pics :p

Rear beam about to go off and be powder coated:

And here's the machined flywheel - he did a top job:

Why not change the inlet manifolds to VW ones? Or are they very hard to come by down under?

    Looking fantastic though mate!! [:D]

Yeah, bloody Seat logo [:^(] I nearly paid to have it machined flat... proabably still will actually.

We didn't get the VW stamped ABF down here, we only got it in the Ibiza. There's been a few on UK eBay but costs too much to get posted down here.

I'm gonna try and find one in Germany whilst on holiday in a couple of months [:D]

    Cheers

We only got the 1.8T and VR6 motor's didn't we? But having Seat on
there isn't that big a deal, thought you were sticking the motor in
your sig into the car, not the original motor....
