Matrix coolant volume and aome Bootilisciousness!.

Smoke? Ahhh I seeee.... Theres no smoke, i did wash it twice!

So the coolant was well over 15mm above the max line and now the level has dropped. There is more crud in the reservoir so Ill flush it out and replenish with more demineralised water and tectalloy coolant.

    Harry, you're not finished yet.

Where's the black plastic lip that fits on the bottom of the bumper?

    Wiper, coolant stezza and more

Another blissful day, West winds have died down, sunny, cool amd dry. Feels good being productive and while the pilaf is cooking (for those who cook it, when you place it on a moist rag and if it sizzles, its done, never open ilod and use the best long grain rice you can get)

First up I went to Supercheap, returned some goodies and came back with storage boxes and tool pouches and had a sort out.
    20160625_143556.jpg

Then panel beated the SAG plate

Front and rear wipers, brake lights etc. The RHD blank on the front wiper has a plastic cover with a long pin. It had us stumped as to how and what to take off and we split the plastic insert. So there were rubber inner tube like rings I sliced a ring off and slipped it around to keep it together and all pretty like.

NOTE TO RJ...Did the best I could woth rear bumper, Im happier!

Stereo facts. My clarion is 62mm deep and the windscreen duct support was approx -60mm, with the addition of the stereo mounting sleeve, with a little care it clicked into place without force. I fed the antenna through the bracket as the connection was on the driver side and all the other connections tucked into a gap near the passenger duct. In hindsight I should have installed it earlier as the dash bracket prevents access with the duct in place. I used a long screw driver to tuck the main connections into place.

Gave the entire inners and outer inside of doors a good scour with a soft plastic scouring pad and soapy water. The flushed out the remaining crud and residue with clean water to remove all dirt. My belief is water alone wont rust, its the moisture retention of dirt and muck that stagnates and causes most the damage
    20160625_152340.jpg

I had a little body deadener left in the can, so dried off what I could with newspaper and sprayed the lower seams qnd in the rear gap

Getting quite good at this and thankful my templates were the right size. I found some cloth double sided tape, said good for toupes and skin, so thought it would be better in dirty areas than the usual stuff and it worked a treat. It was like elastoplast bandage Only had one roll, so sliced down the middle on the roll with a blade and that was plenty. So first up I tacked the GRUNT BUILDERS PLASTIC into place with masking tape. Then once I had it lined up, I worked from the bottom up, tacking the plastic to window and layong an innner seam of gaffa tape and the surround with double sided.
    20160625_154916.jpg

Then carefully pulled the plastic down to the double sided tape, lined up and dropped the top down so I could reach in and tack on the gaffa and create an inward water run off.
    20160625_155943.jpg

Then released the tack and worked up the window, adding gaffa cloth tape as reinforcment for the openings

Same for he rear, getting good at it now

Time to call a nice chap in Sydney who wished to help me out with rear drivers door winder!

    Happy days!

    Been driving her again...

No work on the car for the last two days, I have installed the door rubbers and will seat them again properly. Driven 400km in two days to Sydney twice, today we delivered my k9 love home and my neighbour Bruce drove the Alfa back to my friend Angelo who kindly leant it to me. It has a head gasket leak, the valves arent happy and while a lovely car, I had to say no to another 2.0 16v.

12c and the heater and all modes worked perfectly...

Cindy is adorable and loves to play and kiss, staffy 100%

    Admitting ignorance and guilt...

Nige mentioned my vacuum consolidation might have gone wrong, well yes and no...

I am unsure on the workings of the two nippled valve leading to the brake servo. I assumed its a one way valve and I know that I have added a second one way valve thinking my heating system might need it.

My M FA now reads 27 litres per 100km, which means I would have 120litre tank with the driving Ive done.

    So, the questions are..

Is the two nipple "thingy" on the manifold to brake servo a one way valve?
Does my heating system require one or not?
The reservoir under the passenget wing, is this a vacuum reservoir?

    Tks h

The vacuum reservoir under the passenger wing is something to do with the charcoal canister and the fuel tank ventilation

Not sure what you mean about the one way valve and the heating - a MK2 should have hot water running through the heater matrix all the time as the heater box is a mixer box and it controls the air temp

Im pretty sure there should be a one way valve in the line to the brake servo (booster in Aussie lingo) but without a pic I can't be 100% sure what u mean
